Did Abraham Tithe By Faith? by novicali: 8:28am On May 10, 2020
You must have heard some explain how Abraham gave tithes by faith.

First and foremost, Abraham, tithe, and faith are not written anywhere in the same context in scriptures

You have Abraham, Christ, faith and righteousness, but not alongside tithe

It’s likely an interpolation of scriptures

It’s a conjecture…

It falls flat as a gross misinterpretation of scripture

Abraham and faith in the book of Hebrews…

Hebrews 2:16 KJV For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.

Christ’s humanity found in Abraham’s genealogy

Hebrews 6:13-15 KJV For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, [14] Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. [15] And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

God Gave Him A Promise:
Hebrews 7:6-7 KJV But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises. [7] And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.

When Melchizedek blessed him, which means to commend and speak well of,

Abraham obviously honored the Priest.

Faith isn’t mentioned here at all

Abraham already had the promise!!!!!

As an aside, spoils of war, meant it could have included shedding of human blood or injury, I’m not sure it was a game he won; he won a war with armed men

Genesis 14:14-15 KJV And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan. [15] And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.

All he did was honor a priest with stuff that wasn’t his…

Tithe By Faith War Gains Not Included:
A culture renown amongst Hebrews. It’s like saying, so and so prostrated for a king.

The writer was not envisaging a day will come when it would be used for a faith action in giving.

Hebrews 7:8 KJV And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.

“Here”, refers to the law, “there” refers to the Abraham’s account.

Received them is italics, not original.

The writer was not teaching faith. As Melchizedek was a symbol.

He mentions Abraham’s faith again, for the promise

Hebrews 11:9,17-19 KJV By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: [17] By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, [18] Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called: [19] Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.

His faith was for the Promise of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection

Hebrews 11:1-2 KJV Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. [2] For by it the elders obtained a good report.

Faith Must Have An Expectation:
To say Abraham gave tithes by faith means, he bought the justification.

So, had he not given the tithe to Melchizedek, would he have been “de-justified”? His hope of Christ’s work denied him

Abraham’s faith was defined and mustn’t be varied into all, he did!

That’s wrong.

You must weigh implications of doctrinal position.

Abraham didn’t give tithe by faith

His faith was for justification and consummated when Christ’s rose!

Hence in its promissory state, it awaited Christ, and all weren’t perfect …

Hebrews 11:39-40 KJV And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: [40] God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.
