Nigeria's Vice - President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, on Monday reviewed the draft of the Economic Sustainability plan before its final submission to President Muhammadu Buhari.

The ESC was on March 30 constituted by President Buhari with the responsibility to develop a post Covid - 19 economy. That is, a clear economic sustainability plan until 2023.

The committee is to identify the fiscal and monetary measures to enhance oil and non-oil revenues in order to fund the plan; develop a stimulus package and come up with measures to create more jobs while keeping the existing ones.


Giving the report of today's meeting, Vice - President Osinbajo wrote on his Instagram handle:

"Reviewing a draft of the Economic Sustainability Plan today with committee members ahead of the delivery of the final report to President Muhammadu Buhari."


Also speaking, the Spokesman to the Vice - President, Mr. Laolu Akande said that "VP Osinbajo, chaired a meeting of the Economic Sustainability Committee today reviewing the draft Economic Sustainability Plan ahead of submission to Mr. President for his consideration."

Confirming that the President is regularly briefed on the progress report, he added: "the VP has also been intimating the President with the work and progress of the Committee."
