Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike during a routine supervision stormed a branch of the United Bank Of Africa, UBA and chased out customers that were not putting on face masks and adhering to social distancing directive. A viral video of the incident captured the moment that the Governor queried the bank’s management who on their part claimed they tried to get the customers to adhere strictly to the social distancing directive but were adamant. On further interrogation on the provision of soaps and hand sanitizers for hand washing, the bank was however found wanting. “You want to kill my people and run to your village, Governor Wike asked. Amaso99: Exactly, Executive Chairman of Ikwerre LGA, Hon. Engr. Samuel Nwanosike. Very commendable. The Hon. Chairman did very well but I think we need to add innovations to our approach. The lockdown and making general things scarce is not helping matters. Wike should enforce safety guidelines and not Lockdown. Banks need support to open more payment points and employ extra hands for customer care points. People should be encouraged to use emails more often than visiting banks. And bankers should be prompt in response. Make more cash points and cash service centres. With innovative ideas, we can reduce the crowds. 1 Like |
