Following the development, Chief Security Officers of all banks in the country on Wednesday held a four-hour closed door meeting with the DIG Operations at the Force Headquarters to fashion out ways on how the banks could provide their own alternative security. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/01/mobile-police-to-be-withdrawn-from-banks-individuals/ <<edited>> |

there is no need for banks to panic because police or no police armed robbers has been attacking and robbing banks even when the police are there. Some banks that is located opposite police stations have been robbed while the police watch as the operation goes on so i don't see the big deal if they are withdrawn from banks. |
Re: No More Mobile Police For Banks by Hodaya(m): 8:20am On Jan 14, 2011 |
Of what use have they been actually, they are peanuts for armed robbers who attack with more sophisticated weapons. It is either this or they equip them with better weapons and protection. I can't just imagine been in their shoes, they kind of thought that goes through their mind on a daily basis waiting to combat a more equipped opponent. |

Re: No More Mobile Police For Banks by coolpapa: 9:50am On Jan 14, 2011 |
of what impact has the nigerian police made in protecting lives and properties in the nigerian banking sector? it is obvious that their presence at the banks are more threat to the customers cos most of them work hand in hand with armed robbers. most of those armed rubbers gets first class information from the police security men, posted to most of the existing nigerian banks. the presence of the policemen at banks does not scared armed rubbers from perpetuating their awful act rather it pave way for them and upgrade their information. Let them go jare |

Re: No More Mobile Police For Banks by semid1(m): 10:14am On Jan 14, 2011 |
Good move. . .are SWAT (Special Weapons And Tactics) units of American police departments deployed to guard & protect banks? I support the I.G on this one. The Mobile Police is an elite unit and shouldn't be used to carry out mundane police work. It's not as if the Police would be withdrawn entirely as conventional policemen (armed) will still be assigned to the banks to cordinate and head the private security outfits/arrangements of the banks.

These banks should be able to provide better security for their businesses instead of over-relying on the archaic tactics of the MPF. Time for me to go start a private security company. |
Re: No More Mobile Police For Banks by DeeJay20: 11:13am On Jan 14, 2011 |
Security is Not free and the Nigerian Banks know that, Why would the IG think of removing police security from banks if the banks refuse to issue better "security Contracts" to the Nigerian Police force. Most Banks use "Private Companies" for security ie "Securicor" in the UK but even they are "Backed up" in term of monitoring to the CCTV system and have connectiones to the UK Police Force. And all of the Private Security firms in the UK are Part Owned and Staffed by Ex Military and Police Officers. Police force in the UK charge "Football clubs" for security services at football matches and other events. Police Presense at Public/Private Events in the UK means some organisation is paying "Part of the Bill" besides the Government. The Nigerian Banks should wake up from their "Dreamland" of paying the Nigerian Police "Peanuts" for securing Billions of Naira Or is something stirring here. are the Military Elite thinking of starting Private security firm to now watch over the money, hmmm |
