Chief Ebenezer Babatope, a former Minister of Transport on Wednesday said Prof. Ibrahim Agboola Gambari is a very competent officer who will perform creditably well in his new role as Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Presidency in the early hours of Wednesday announced 75 year- old Gambari as a replacement for Mallam Abba Kyari, the former Chief of Staff who died in April due to COVID-19 complications.

Speaking in a chat with Daily Independent, Babatope, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) however said President Buhari is a very difficult person to work with and he doubts if he will give Gambari all the assistance he needs to succeed on the job.


“Prof. Gambari is a very competent and highly cerebral fellow. I know him very well and I believe he will perform well as Chief of Staff”.

“However, the truth is, Buhari is a very difficult person to work with and I hope he will give him all the assistance he requires to function as the Chief of Staff.”

“But I have no doubt that Prof. Gambari will do very well because I know him.”

Today, one US-based political fiction writer, Farooq Kperoogi insisted that Prof. Gambari is coming to babysit Pres. Buhari who can not lift a finger without help. Yet he presided over virtual FEC meeting.

To the loquacious IPOB idol Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, his greatest hit song which he sings every weekend is the daft conspiracy theory that the man in the State House is not real Pres. Buhari but his body double from Sudan. Yet, he has migraine everyday over somebody who is non-existent.

Today, an elite PDP member Ebenezer Babatope lamented that though Prof. Gambari is competent, Buhari his boss is a very difficult person to work with and therefore will make it difficult for him to succeed. Yet Prof. Gambari served him as Foreign Minister in 1983 and has willingly come back as his CoS in 2020.
