CONCERNED CITIZENS CRY TO GOVERNOR FAYEMI TO INTERVENE IN IJERO COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGY PALAVA

A cross section of Ekiti indigenes, home and abroad are not happy about the deteriorating situation of College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ijero-Ekiti.

According to special education report released to professional News bloggers, the concern raised bothers on the following cogent points:

1. Lackadaisical approach to programs accreditation.
2. Divisive style of Administration.
3. Deplorable condition of facilities
4. Actions devoid of transparency and accountability
5. Bypass of due process in procurement

According to the reports, it is worrisome that the Executive Governor’s passion to reposition the institution has been rubbished by the zero inexperienced administration of the Sole Administrator- Mrs. Folakemi Falore

Worthy of note is the fact that the college lost most of the existing Accreditation of courses during the present administration.
Checking the status of the available courses, we observe that, none of the seventeen major courses are accredited.

In fact some have been de- accredited. The efforts made to secure the accreditation of the courses before the Sole Administration took over were jettisoned.

Such efforts include;
* Planning the extension of College Health Centre to accommodate out- patients services and children ward for Nutritional clinics as required by NBTE and Community Health professional Bodies
* Facilitating Public relations with Accreditation Bodies and fostering relationship for reasonable negotiation on accreditation matters.
*Facilitating employment and Placement of number of required Pharmacist(s) as required by Pharmacy Council of Nigeria to sustain accreditation of the Course.
* Planning Procurement of accreditation equipment, renovation of the facilities and repair of furniture with the meager resources generated by the College in order to secure accreditation, and so on.

In the light of the above, it is crystal clear that virtually all courses till date in the College need Accreditation or Reaccreditation

The Administration we learn, rather than focus on the primary objectives of the school, prefers to concentrate on White elephant projects that not only squander resources, but also in direct opposite to attainment of academic excellence.

It is also worthy to note that, as a result of non-proactive leadership, there exist conflict among members of staff, which is inimical to meaningful development we all expect in the school.

Going by the nature of complaints received from both staff and students of the institution, there is urgent reason for the Executive Governor to look into the activities of the Sole Administrator if the state is interested in moving the school forward.

Against her are reports of;
* Administrative high- handedness,
* Financial impropriety,
* Deliberate acts of Wickedness ,
* Divide and rule and
* Discrimination

On a fact finding visit to the school, concerned citizens discovered that most of the facilities and furniture in the College are in deplorable condition. While furniture were not procured or repaired, dilapidated classrooms have been abandoned not even considering the fact that all these facilities are of pressing needs to Accreditation and developments of the College. Instead of this, millions of naira has been carted away in the name of epileptic portal system deployed to the College.

More worrisome is the discovery that indigenous candidates no longer patronize the College as before, they are now aware of the accreditation status of most of the courses coupled with the crippled academic system that characterized the administration of this Administrator.

The evidence is clear with barely five hundred and fifty (550) candidates admitted last session as against over a thousand (1000) students that are being admitted on yearly basis before Falore took over. In the light of the above, it is crystal clear that virtually all courses till date in the College need Accreditation or Reaccreditation.

It is important to note that efforts have been geared towards securing all these accreditation before Sole Administrator took over. Another vital issue brought to the attention of concerned citizens is the case of WITCH HUNTING THROUGH DEMOTION OF ALL STAFF IN THE COLLEGE

It is alleged that Falore insisted she must demote all staff most especially those staff deployed to the College from MDAs, which include Ministries and Local Governments as against the policy of our dear Governor who takes the welfare of the workers very paramount through prompt payment of salaries and regular promotion across all MDAs in the State.

However, these affected staff have been working in the College years even before the school became College, in fact some of them started their career in the Institution and were well harmonized and placed according to the Condition of service and College Bill signed into Law during the first term of his Excellency, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi.

Report reaching us shows that the Sole administrator and her cabinet members out of desperation defied lock down order given by the State Governor and went to the College in odd hours to carry the files of all established staff that were harmonized to the College service in order to hurriedly carryout this Demotion exercise out of personal vendetta and shared wickedness.

This wicked act is being implemented outside the extant guidelines and condition for promotion, adjudication of salary and placement of staff as enshrined in the College Law and Condition of Service, the evil agenda she has already used former Librarian and Bursar as litmus test.

The reason for this, we learn is to cut down the salaries of the staff in the College especially Senior Academic and Non Academic Staff with 15- 20 years experiences in the Institution only for her and her management team to have enough money to steal for their usual personal aggrandizement.

It is hoped that Dr. Kayode Fayemi will listen to the voice of Ekiti, by taking Executive actions capable of restoring values to the college and by extension, put our state (Fountain of Knowledge) in better position in the pursuant of Technical education.
