If they don't want to pay, then the school should stop the E- learning. You can pay 1.5 million per term but cannot pay 175k for E- learning. Let everybody wait till the pandemic is over and the children return to school with whatever they have learnt from their parents.

If they pay 4.5mil per session and the 175k is deductible from the fees when sch eventually resumes, then i don't see any problem jare!

Your judgement is perfect

And they have never produced the best students or a Governor or a President. Someone should stand to correct me. There is indeed a very wide gap between the rich and the poor. Most poor parents can't even afford to pay 5,000 per month for such programs.

I hate hearing things like this. Change your mentality, nobody is the cause of your misfortune. Schools like this you get value for money, quality education and another is the kind of people you meet there. Kids from great backgrounds, you get to form a network that will be invaluable later in future. A network that will shape your life and give it a meaning. If you have the money, take your kids there. It's usually a faster and surest route to greatness.
pls help me check weac and neco results for the past ten years... I want to check something.

1.5million Naira per term?

What are they teaching?

I don’t think the parents should complain on that amount levied on virtual teaching monthly, if they can afford millions of Naira per session.

Throughout my primary to university, adding all my school fees, e no go reach 1.5million naira
Just because they can afford it doesn't mean that they should give in to exploitation

We spend way too much on education here in this part of the world, yet to scientific invention or what have you to show for it...It's not enough to be speaking 'refined english language" if it doesn't affect our socio-development and technological development.

Sometimes the rich put their kids in this school for selfish reasons. They know their children will mix up with other rich children maybe for better job opportunities for thier parent and for their children to marry another rich kids in the future. So the wealth keeps rotating from family to family. So they should not complain, let them finish what they have already started.

175K per month, not per term. That's 47% of the normal school fees they paid when students go to school physically. Then add internet cost, plus cost of purchasing computers for these children. It is too much.
If you know how much they spend on data doing online gaming other stuffs, you'll know the data cost is minute. Besides, who told you those kids don't have computers already

Yes the value of education is IMMENSE , but lets' be Honest 2million a month for 3 classes a day

Other "prestigious" schools are charging nowhere near that value
Let's confirm what they are teaching at first.
I repeat I know the value of education.
I v worked with private schools and know a genuine one.
Maybe Atlantic Hall is one of them.
Re: E-learning: Atlantic Hall Imposes N175,000 Monthly Fee For Online Learning by MT: 10:32am On May 15, 2020
This can only happen in Nigeria. Federal Ministry of Education released a circular that 3rd term has not and should not commence, still some schools ignored that by implementing a Mickey mouse online learning as the start of a third term.

Also, the fee for education is not realistic. Some private schools are 500% more expensive than some universities. We are getting to the tilting point, just because we measure quality of education how expensive a school tuition fee is.

I have read something like that sometimes ago.
Can't remember if it was Atlantic hall or any of those elite schools. But the pay for their teachers was just unbelievably poor relative to the amount they collect as school fees.
Re: E-learning: Atlantic Hall Imposes N175,000 Monthly Fee For Online Learning by mechanics(m): 11:06am On May 15, 2020
The fees is not much compared to what they are paying as normal school fees.

Focusmind:
My kids school did same. Infact they said that third term have started with their online teaching and would allow just 10% discount on the normal school fees.
Mind you, as a parents, you prepare your kids for the learning, burn my data for hours, sometimes stay with them during the online tutorial and follow up with their assignments and mark them.

you are practically doing everything. When we had the online PTA, I had to pour out my mind with anger. Annoyingly, most parents seemed scared to challenge the owner of the school. I was dumbfounded. This Nigerian mentality of showing I am richer or I am better than the next person could be childish sometimes.

Some parents were even praising the school owner and teachers for coming up with the online teaching and accepted the fee structure. I was like what a Bleep!. I told them, 60% discount from the normal fee or nothing.

The owner later called me and accepted my 60% request but said I shouldn't inform other parents as they seemed ok with the fee.

I told myself, wetin be my own, call who? If they willingly accepted your proposal, fine and good with them. I thank him for accepting my 60% and I kukuma maintained myself without discussing anything with other parents. If you are not good with the offer, go and negotiate your own discount base on your peculiar circumstances but some would be forming Dangote at PTA meeting.

I work for myself and business is down for me. I don't hide anything. I will tell the truth, things are tough for me. There is no shame.

Very nice perspective.

People tend to lose the ability to think independently and objectively when in a group, especially in a group where there is a subtle sense of competition.

I do think the fee is not cast in stone. Case by case exception for parents is very possible, if some of them push for it.

very true
I have a cousin that goes there to school.
It's compulsory they buy laptops on resumption.
Most of the kids there use wifi at home,so cost of data is no problem

#4.5m. Wosh! The summation of all my education so far could barely get close to a million naira. Thank God for public school settings, I for no go school at all.
Meanwhile, parent that can afford this said amount would pay in full the controversial amount.
Regardless of if the school principal or authority is selfish about this matter, virtual learning.

Those expensive schools are where you get some of the dumbest and unintelligent kids. Bring them to any competition and they will flop woefully.

The federal government and all stake holders should come together and rescue Nigerian parents from these private schools, they are milking them dry.
Many people are dying because of the pressure to get more money, the stories never end and most parents are going into serious crisis because of the insensitive behavior of these schools.

This doesnt make any sense at all.

Federal government should rescue parents from private schools. Who sent you there in the first place.

What you should advocate is for upgrading of existing government schools
