Ahead of the 2023 election, Governor Samuel Ortom who is alledged to be eyeing the Senate seat currently occupied by Akume' elstwhile godson Senator Emmanuel Yisa Orker Jev, held reconciliatory meeting with his former godfather Senator George Akume.
Senator Akume who is the current Minister for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs in Buhari's cabinet, is a king-maker and leader of Benue politics. In attendance also was the immediate past Governor of Benue State Senator Gabriel Suswam. Senator Suswam will be seeking for a second term at the red chamber.
