You’re very correct. A grade companies are simply not interested. Worse for them, manufacturing doesn’t make sense in SE because the markets and export terminal is and will continue to be in the SW—we have already seen why SS ports are pretty much a write-off. Any sensible industrialist will manufacture in SW to massively save on transportation cost. Indeed, that’s why the manufacturing base that existed in SE in the 1980s and early 1990s seized to exist! No purchasing power in the region and to far from Lagos ports. See how Ogun has massively benefited from manufacturers looking for more space, cheaper land, and less bottlenecks tied to a tight Lagos.

Our access to the sea is a massive advantage and it’s good to see Ogun and Ondo joining in the port party. Recently there are some Ibos trying to claim SE is not landlocked. They said they can build ports in some river lol. They don’t know that even if it was possible (highly unlikely) ships will still have to pass SS which is a no go area for the shipping companies.
It will be interesting to see how everything unfolds.

For serious and credible investors, the SW is the safest and the most logical destination for so many reasons from societal stability and conducive environment to safety and security of investment, access to large markets and consumers with disposable income, educated manpower and solid retune on investment, these are attributes the other regions lack,

When Fashola was lobbying and chasing Dangote with inducements, land, and everything under the sun to move his refinery to Lagos, these loudmouths were abusing him, they called it white elephant and Tinubu connection land giveaway, but luckily for Lagosians, they have smart, intelligent and forward-looking leaders.

We are talking about not only a $15 billion investment, the largest private investment in the history of Nigeria, but also the hundreds of thousands of direct and indirect jobs to be created, this is the kind of investment governments all over the world kill to direct to their country.

This is why I still rate Fashola as the best Lagos state governor ever.

My prayer is Ogun and Oyo state should wake up to reality and tap from Lagos.
Like providing good roads, train and light. From Ogun / Oyo to Lagos, without Hold up.

Ondo State too is waking up in term of tech.

If Osun state were to closer to Lagos like Ogun.

It would be more Industrial than what someone can imagine, because of two factors:
Osun state roads are good and their light is like 20 - 23hrs per day.

Ogun state wasn't ready for the overflow from Lagos, it's very hard for them to keep up, but they must as a matter of urgency, they need to drive up their infrastructure to accommodate human and industrial growth.

The issue with Ogun state is not limited to Ogun state, even Oyo state is facing the same challenges with Oluyole industrial estate. I think the SW collectively should fund a superhighway from Lagos all the way to Ondo state, even if they have to borrow and toll it.

I agree with you 100% about Osun state, imagine Aregbesola in Ogun instead of Amosun.

Yeah, but at least both states should be able to construct like 10lanes to the entry of Lagos.

And watch how people will be moving to both states.

Maybe, Oyo problem is budget.
Their budget alone self, Ibadan will chop everything and won't be enough not to talk of other towns.

People who work with facts, either because they love Lagos and desire her progress or because their profession encourages them to alway recognize proven statistics, Will know that the Igbos are not assets to Lagos. At all. They are mainly saboteurs. It is only their business leaders like Ovia, Elumelu etal who contribute substantially to the IGR of Lagos.

Meanwhile the contribution of those people is dwarfed by that of their Yoruba peers who are far more in number.

Overall, only the Igbos themselves and uninformed Yorubas think Igbos are as important to Lagos as they claim.

They actually benefit more from Lagos than they give back which makes them an economic deficit to the State rather than an asset.

This is why I encourage and will continue to encourage them daily to leave Lagos and see if the State "crashes" as they threaten will happen if they depart back to Ala Igbo.
@Oshigun, Jim Ovia isan Ika man from Agbor NOT Ibo. Ovia is a name of EDO origin and many Agbor and Ika have names/surnames of Edo roots because they migrated from there and they speak the Ika language. Also, many Delta North or so-called Ibo-speaking towns actually originate from the EDO, YORUBA, IGALA, NRI east of River Niger, etc. This may explain why they also relate with, and marry Yorubas. Tony Elumelu's wife's father and mother from Onicha Olona in Aniocha North lived and worked peacefully in Lagos during the Nigerian Civil War. Ovia is a name which has to do with the God of iron in EDO. Jim Ovia even gave out his daughter to a guy with Yoruba parentage so Jim Ovia has cemented ties with Lagos and SW through family ties and business. Finally, read up on the history of the OLUKUMIS (such as Nduka Ugbade from Ugbodu) of Aniocha North of Delta State whose ancestors are of Yoruba origin. Hope this helps... and your post was based on EMPIRICAL FACTS!

The game-changer for Lagos state is the Dangote refinery complex.

Imagine this..

The largest single-train refinery in the world in Lagos, SW

The biggest fertilizer plant in the world in Lagos, SW

The biggest petrochemical plant in Africa in Lagos, SW.

The largest gas processing plant in Africa in Lagos, SW

This is the real game-changer for Lagos and the SW, even the new IGR figure is small change considering the potential massive tax base and manufacturing opportunities from the petrochemical plant alone, imagine the explosion of petro plastic products, rubbers, resins, synthetic fibers, adhesives, dyes, detergents, pesticides, and petroleum-derived paints and coatings. Making film, Food packaging Shopping bags Cling film Milk carton lining, Injection molding, Dustbins Crates, Buckets Bowls Blow mouldingDetergent bottles Drums, Squeezable bottles, Extrusion Water pipes, Flexible water pipes Cable jacketing.

This petrochemical plant alone is set to open up many industrial applications for high-end exportable goods like industrial products, automotive parts products and so on, now imagine Lagos state sitting on this massive tax base and business opportunities.

And the biggest fertilizer plant in the world and the huge taxable refined products from the massive refinery too.

OMG, Lagos state and the SW don jam lottery, I see Lagos state rapidly moving from the 3rd largest economy in Africa moving to 2nd or even the first if possible.

Man! The opportunities are massive! At this rate you will give the Ibos high blood pressure! Lol. The multiplier effects will even cross into Ogun and the SW region considering the fact that the Lagos-Ibadan rail project is 90% complete—the port connection segment is the main work left. This rail line will really integrate the SW region and especially boost Ogun state given its proximity to Lagos. Real Estate prices are also set to rise in many areas in Ogun just as we’re seeing in the Lekki axis.

I’m also glad that the governors have seen the importance of security hence the establishment of Amotekun. This will further make the SW the premier destination in Nigeria and the West African region. Long live Ooduwa!!!

Fashola is also my favorite! That man has vision! I’m just glad we got the Dangote Refinery situated in the SW. As you have clearly shown, the multiplier effects will be massive and it’s for the long-term. I wonder how the SS folks are feeling. It’s a real slap on their collective faces and a massive vote of no confidence in them as a people. It’s the people that make the environment conducive for business. In that regard the SS has failed woefully.
I hope that the light rail project is given more attention as if will really boost Lagos and materially improve the quality of life for the residents.

Apparently the Ondo to Lagos Road has begun. I can’t confirm this but I heard it has started even though work is slow. The basis for the road is the proposed Port in Ondo state.
I agree that Ogun State has struggled in terms of ramping up infrastructure to accommodate the Lagos overflow. Luckily the Lagos-Ibadan express way Project is making good strides. Julius Berger are doing a fantastic job I can tell you. The road will really open up Ogun State especially the Sagamu to Mowe/Ibafo axis. Add the Lagos-Ibadan rail project that is almost complete and the mind begins to get excited!

This is the next best thing Ondo state can do after losing Dangote refinery to Lagos because Mimiko was just dumb and stupid, he was playing PDP politics and lost massively.

The Ondo/Lagos road sounds like a backdoor major coup for Ondo state because even though they don't have Dangote refinery, they have direct access to goods and services from the complex to further growth and industrial activities in Ondo state, also, on the other hand, Ondo state is witnessing their own industrial boom at Ondo-Linyi Industrial Hub from Ethanol plant to textile, truck manufacturing plant, plywood and papermill plant.

Lagos is the largest market so the Lagos/Ondo road is very crucial for easy movement of finished products to Lagos. Good move.

The SW is well-positioned to dominate economic activities in Africa..

Of course. Is that not what you Igbos dedicated yourselves to doing against others, especially the Yorubas, to now draw out the reactions you see today from me and others?

Sad too how you lot have done this historically for decades to grow only more emboldened as Yorubas generally ignored you in the past.

Your big mistake is to think you can take same despicable behavior into the internet age. This is when Yorubas, fed up of your ways, decided enough is enough. That is why you lot are ambushed with facts daily by Yorubas not willing to indulge you or spare an inch any more.

Generally, the Yorubas are a respectable people. If you Igbos decided you can be civil and respectful towards the ethnic group then you might get same in return. Bottom line is that you lot should gave your lane and let the Yoruba sleeping Dog lie

Tinubu innocuously congratulates an appointee of PMB. A thread is started about that only for Igbos to flood into it to be insulting Jagaban. What has he done to you hateful creatures to the extent you must attack every single damn thing he does or say? The days of Yorubas rising above Igbo uncouth and hateful ways is over.

This is a sentimental statement and not a factual one. Igbo are economic saboteurs with their system of trading, retail shop ownership and apprentice structure they deliberately use to make money that will almost 100% be funneled back to Ala Igbo without attendant benefits to host Countries, States and region where they make that money in the form of tax or developmental levies etal.

Look at the filth Ladipo was before Fashola got really mad with Igbos and their neglectful ways. A place generating billions for Igbos yet they cannot throw a bit of change to ensure the environment is cleans, canals dredged and pollution kept to a minimal. This is because Igbos only love using others to feather their nest. They don't care about their host and their geographical/financial wellbeing.

A lot of innocent Nigerians suffered because of the retail trade war Ghana enacted against Nigerians when it was Igbos who are the sole culprit of sharp trading practices Ghana could not condone.

Some of us defended Nigeria nonetheless even when we knew the details to understand that the anger of Ghana stems from the reality of how Igbos set up shop in Ghanaian markets, robbing Ghanaians of market presence, while paying no tax to the government of Ghana!!! Igbos were making Ghanaians unemployed yet expected tax remittance that would alleviate that negative economic development were conspicuously missing.

How is that acceptable to any fair-minded person? It is the same practice everywhere Igbos go. Igbos take an extremely clannish and hostile approach to trading designed to see them and their kinsmen profit while others who facilitate their trade gain little or nothing in return via employment (Igbos don't employ non-Igbos) or payment of taxes, developmental levies etc.

Anyone who think Igbo retailers and traders, the bulk and majority of their business presence in the SW, pay appreciable tax on their profit is a m0r0n.

Speech writing on Igbos lolsssssss...

The SE is poor, the purchasing power is little or nothing, the business environment is too unfriendly, too hostile and not even enough educated manpoer to sustain meaningful business activities.

why do you mumble false claims, who told you they aren't in the eastern region? we do have our own local homegrown fast food companies like crunchies, eggle springing up within the region. that should tell you that the local economy is burgeoning and alive. Rubbish post. My friend, IPOBians and tax evasion are 5 and 6. They don't even pay tax in their SE States talk less of Lagos or any SW State.

As per your 'accomodate' quip, you simply don't understand that only fools would seek to accomodate enemies-within and saboteurs which Igbos are.

Finally, even if I am from Ekiti I would always have far more entitlement in any part of Yorubaland than any Igbo. Educated Yorubas are the same and this is why Aregbe can be a commissioner in Lagos and later the governor of Osun. Shukwudi or Shinenu cannot do that. Kapish? Comprende?
