To find a permanent solution to the sea incursion ravaging the Ayetoro community in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State and its environs, the Ondo State Government has partnered with the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP) to actualize the Ayetoro Shoreline Protection Project. According to the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN who announced the new development via his twitter account, he said it took his administration 2years of engagement with the World Bank Africa to get it done. He tweeted "It has taken our administration over two years of engagement with the @WorldBankAfrica to get to this point. We are happy to work with the @NEWMAP_NIGERIA team to actualize the Ayetoro Shoreline project. Many have tried but like always, we will certainly succeed in record time." The Lawmaker representing Ilaje Constituency 1, Hon. Abayomi Akinruntan who was on site with the NEWMAP team to carry out the feasibility study for the design of the project said the government has handed over the project to Etteh Aro & Partners. According to the Lawmaker, The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) had awarded the project to Gallet Nig Ltd in 2004 with N650million as Mobilization Fee. He stressed that the NDDC rewarded the same project to Dredging Atlantic in 2013 at N6.5Billion with N2.5billion Mobilization Fee and both Company Failed to execute same. https://twitter.cm/RotimiAkeredolu/status/1263800355445489665?s=19 1 Like 1 Share

We pray there will be real development. It is definitely not only by announcement.... You talk, you do. Who is contributing what? Funding, purposes, benefits, socio-economic potentials are issues that should drive our developmental projects. Instead corruption has taken a deep root in our civil, public and private participation. |
