One hopes that the same forces of darkness would not find reasons to remove Siemens in the near future. The thing about Nigeria, good governance & institutional discipline is baffling. |

Tcn deserve the shake up from the top to the least, these are the problem we are having in the power sector despite the megawatts the nation is generating, people like Mohammed gur should be removed from the sector he has overstayed, has nothing to offer except to be sabotaging the good effort of the federal government. I prayed God gives the new director the wisdom to do his work diligently and to proffer lasting solutions to the problem of power sector in this country. |

Corruption is the single greatest obstacle preventing Nigeria from achieving its enormous potential. Some types of corruption (for example, extortion or contract fraud) are more prevalent in some sectors than in others. Likewise, some are more or less damaging—either directly or via negative multiplier effects—depending on where they occur. |

I read this and I laughed. Are you a power system engineers? Have you ever worked with Siemen or on Siemens projects before? Do you know the implications of having only Siemen working on a project if that magnitude? Do you know Siemens antecedents in projects in Nigeria? What happens to supply chains when there is a major issue with just only one vendor? Why are the likes of ABB, Tata, GE not involved? Have you thought of financing? So many questions begging for answers. The govt takes advantage of people's ignorance and sign contracts that won't see the light of the day when there is no concrete agreement on how the Gencos and Discos are going to be carried along in this project. Siemens has failed in SCADA deployment in TCN and they are not even fully on ground in Nigeria presently. There are various corruption allegations against them in other sectors in Nigeria. Was a Abba Kyari a power system professional or was he the minister of power that he had to enter Siemens agreement on our behalf? Ignorance is such a huge problem in Nigeria. [quote author=AsomughaChuks05 post=89932001]I support his firing if this is true. No effort should be spared in handing over our entire power infrastructure to Siemens. They are a world class power company and Nigeria would be the better for it. Any individual standing in the way of the deal that would revolutionize our electricity sector and ensure regular power supply must be swept aside. God continue to bless the late Abba Kyari for having the vision. [/quote My worry is about the business ethics of Siemens who like the French and Chinese have no scruples about giving bribes to win business. |
