There is pervasive corruption dancing azonto in our faces and it's being perpetuated by those in govt offices (civil servants), if the whistle blower strategy is no longer efficacious, icpc a stooge and the efcc a witch hunt dog that only goes after those they feel they should be used against, then the only strategy available to us to get a semblance of modicum, is to at least name the thieves and expose public documents, that's the only available way to go - because any document signed by so called representative public servants is supposed to be in public interest- if they want anything hidden that they sign on, they should resign and go and do private practice - govt business is to manage resources that belong to all of us and not to shroud it in secrecy- dictators/thieves in the garmount of civil servants

If the FOI bill is potent, documents not pertaining to National security ought to be accessible to the public.
Unfortunately, our national govt runs like a cult.
I have stopped complaining sha.

They're only trying to enforce it, though if the document has no dirty deals in it I see no reason why it's wrong to release it to the public. If the civil service is fair and transparent in it ways then releasing its documents to the public shouldn't be a big deal.

It is unacceptable to release official correspondence to the public irrespective of whether it belongs to a private organisation or governmental agency!

Not surprised this is happening because the civil service is messed up and does not allow for data classification to ensure critical or confidential documents are only available on a need to know basis.

In a typical government office, a document can have more than 100 footprints just to move the file from storage to the person requesting for it. It's greater if the person requesting it is a top level manager, as it moves back and forth, you give room to it being duplicated and leaked. Threatening them with a sack will not prevent this.
