Not all men are rapists but in a sense, women do live in constant fear of men because "rapist" is not written on anyone's forehead, personally I'm always cautious around men except the ones I'm really comfortable with and even these ones can turn out to be rapists too because many girls have been raped by guys they were very comfortable with, guys they never imagined could hurt them so you can see that we can't really trust any man wholeheartedly, even fathers rape their daughters.

Also, as a student, I can tell you that majority of the guys I've come across on campus are very creepy, when you don't give some of them your number, they follow you down to your hostel or department, pleading and insisting, this has happened to me several times and it really creeps me out, a friend of mine experienced the same thing: A guy asked for her number on the street, she refused and he kept following her and insisting, she kept turning him down and the next time he saw her, he uttered a threatening remark that really scared her.

I think we need to better educate ourselves especially in relation to the opposite sex. I have encountered men; who appear decent and educated, who claim that when a woman says no, she only means to say yes.

I have encountered men who appear to be decent that have claimed they would never rape a woman but an indecently dressed woman deserves to be raped.

I have encountered men who appear to be decent claim women who are alone with men are begging for it and could not stop them from having sex with them.

I have encountered men alike who claim sexual urge cannot be controlled and it makes them do crazy things.

I have encountered men who appear to be decent harass women for sex in so many ways especially at the work place, or where they hold power or authority.

Part of the problem is our inability to stop sexualizing women. This is a problem we need to face and stop denying. Men find women attractive as women do men but we must first learn to see a human being before what our bodies can do for/to each other. We must learn that there are other important things to hold dear than sex. Sex is enjoyable and great but so much better when there is consent and a sense of responsibility that will have no negative consequences. Sex should not hurt, damage or maim. Rape kills whether your victim lives or not, it kills the spirit.

I hope we can find ways to make humanity achieve a higher level of progress.
