Former England international and Liverpool forward John Barnes has apologised after posting a picture of Donald Trump that contained a small thumbnail image of a Indecency**graphic video.

Barnes’ initial tweet had an image of a quote from the American president’s mother, Mary Anne Trump, calling her own son an ‘idiot’.

However, Barnes did not notice that the screenshot he posted left other images in his camera roll visible.

Barnes, in response to the initial tweet, expressed his apology online: ‘I have to apologise for any offence caused as I posted a Donald trump picture sent to me by a friend.. on the camera roll under was a video of Indecency***graphy.. I wasn’t aware that it was there and apologise once again for any offence caused’

The tweet has since been deleted by Barnes.

Barnes was quick to see the funny side of his mistake, as he quickly followed up with: ‘Ps it wasn’t Micheal Owen’.

His followers were quick to point out his gaffe, as one told him to crop the image he had posted to leave out the x-rated content.



However, Barnes replied: ‘Don’t know how to do that… I’m afraid to press buttons on this phone.. I’m 56 yrs old, so happy to just be able to get one or 2 words out on twitter that people understand!!’

Barnes is an outspoken commentator on Donald Trump, racism in society and a number of topics and quickly returned to tweeting.

On the subject of Leigh Francis apologising for impersonating black people on television show Bo’ Selecta, Barnes wrote: “In an ideal post racial world, ( but where cruel/distasteful comedy is still allowed) could a white comedian parody a black celebrity?

“If yes- how would it be different to no selecta? And if no, how is that really equality??”
