Sokoto State Government said 11 out of 33 almajiris received from Zaria Kaduna State, on 4th June 2020, have tested positive for Covid19.

Sokoto State Taskforce on COVID-19 made this known on June 6, 2020 through a statement from the State Ministry of Health, it said, 11 out of the 33 samples collected for test from the almajiris returned positive.

According to the statement released, all the 33 almajiris are currently quarantined at State NYSC orientation camp, Wamakko. On their date of arrival all their samples were collected.

The state Taskforce on Covid19 further explained that, the public should take note that all the almajiris had no known contact with their families.

Meanwhile, the state government said it will collaborate with the Kaduna State government to ensure effective contact tracing at the almajiris school in Zaria where these almajiris come from.

Recall that the state recorded an incredible success in the fight against corona virus disease in Nigeria, as the state discharge all it 101 isolated patients from it isolation centers, on June 5, 2020.

The state commissioner for health who is also the chairman of the Sokoto state task force committee on covid19, Dr. Ali Inname, made this known during the state press briefing in Sokoto.

Although the state was said to have been covid19 free, there were still some test samples pending as at June 6, when the state discharge the remain 5 corona virus patients.
