Long before photographers or photo editors use photo editing software, the use of the conventional camera was widely spread. In those early days, even people had not invented the computer yet. Nonetheless, they were quite impressed with how a camera worked and changed their lives.

The Predecessor of All Cameras

A long time ago, there was a pinhole camera. It was invented by an engineer named Alhazen. The primordial camera came from camera obscura. For your information, camera obscura is a tool that can recreate an image from some objects.

The Heliography

Later on, several hundreds of years in the past future, Nicéphore Niépce was destined to create the next-level camera which was more advanced than its predecessor. It was not called a camera at that moment. He named it heliography.

He used the ray of light to make an image on certain material. It was pewter and bitumen that he used in the beginning. First, he made a certain pattern on them. Then, he exposed them to the light of the sun.

The result was that the materials reacted to it meaning an image appeared. However, it would not last long. Even the creation of the image took almost 7 hours. He considered it the first photograph.

The Perfection towards the Niépce's

Several years after the invention, Louis Daguerre came up with the idea of the daguerreotype. It was used to create a photograph and was better than the Niépce's.

A sheet was coated with silver iodide. While the sheet itself was made of copper. The real camera that people use today is based on his invention. He perfected the previous version. People got so surprised by his invention.

Smaller Camera by Maddox

Perfection after perfection occurred after the first invention. For example, Richard Leach Maddox invented the predecessor of the dry plate which was made of gelatin. It enabled the camera to produce a picture instantly. At this moment, photographers started to use tripods.

It was smaller than the previous ones. Moreover, it was quite handy to carry around. The smaller size, however, could not be compared to nowadays small cameras. It was a breakthrough in those times back then.

The First Paper Film by Kodak Company

Surprisingly in the late 18th century, a genius named George Eastman successfully made paper film. If you have ever heard of the Kodak camera then he was the inventor. The camera used a better lens. It means that they were fixed focus. Not only that, but he also added a single shutter.

The great thing about this product, it was able to store not less than 100 pictures. The paper film needed to be processed to get the pictures shot by the camera. Interestingly, common people were able to buy it because it was affordable. It could be considered the rise of the camera.

The First Leica Camera

Perfection did not stop there. We can see that in 1913, another genius named Oskar Barnack tried to make a smaller camera. He was eager to make everyone able to have one. He did it. Precisely, after the first world war ended, right after that moment, he created Leica 1.

It was the predecessor of the Leica camera today. Leica camera was amazing even in those days. It could be said that the first invention of his triggered other camera companies to produce a similar version i.e. small cameras.

The First Polaroid Camera

Fantastically, cameras got tinier and tinier time after time. Not only the size that changed dramatically, it was the technology that people got attracted to also. In 1948, an amazing camera version called polaroid camera was born and sold worldwide. Until the 1960s, it started to be so famous.

The First Digital Camera

After the invention of the polaroid camera, there was another terrific camera version that was invented by engineers. In the late 1980s, the Kodak company created Kodak DCS. It was the first digital camera.

Thanks to Geniuses Who Created Cameras

We cannot see beautifully terrific photographs today if there were no smart engineers back then who were willing to create cameras. Nowadays, cameras are all digital. Unlike the traditional ones, digital cameras offer you efficiency, many features, and also compatibility with editing software.
