German Bundesliga club Mainz 05 has tweeted that Taiwo Awoniyi who is on loan at the club from Liverpool football club is recovering from the concussion he sustained in their match against Augsburg. The match ended 0-1 in favour of Augsburg.

The 22-year-old Nigerian forward was involved in a deadly collision with Augsburg’s defender Felix Uduokhai. The 2013 FIFA Under-17 World Cup winner landed on the pitch and passed out for minutes.

It took the first aide knowledge of the centre referee of the game Marco Fritz to keep Taiwo Awoniyi alive while they await the medical team at the stadium to take him for further treatment.
