Hello Nairalanders am confused here cause I don't know which database language I should go for so am here asking from the pro which is the best to learn between SQL and MySQL.

SQL is a language which is use to query databases.

MySQL is a type of relational database(not a language) that accepts SQL queries. others are MariaDB, Postgresql etc.

So learn SQL then use it for any database of your choice even MySQL

MySQL is a software that implements SQL language, we also have other software that implement sql too

No MySQL is like an engine that understand SQL language. Django was built with a language(Python). MySQL is not built with SQL rather it is an interpreter of SQL, and has all the necessary functionality to excute SQL query. Just like the JAVA Virtual Machine is used to interpret java bytecodes.

By learning MySQL you automatically learn SQL. Since to work with MySQL you need SQL knowledge. They work hand in hand

Starting with SQL, then moving to mySQL is a good route to take, it gives you solid foundation on database quering, you would be able to move to several other SQL database management systems latter on....

technically you'll learn both together... you need a database to practice your SQL queries.
