Abiola Ajimobi, former Governor of Oyo State, has died due to underlying health conditions worsened by the Coronavirus, Fisayo Soyombo says.

Soyombo is an undercover investigative journalist with several national and international awards to show for his diligence and hard work in the field of journalism.

Soyombo says, "my source insists the former Governor is gone even though he still hasn’t been disconnected from life support.

"I understand that other than placing him on life support, First Cardiology Consultants is “currently not doing anything else” on him.

"By the way, many of those tweeting ‘Ajimobi is alive’ have not seen or spoken to him since yesterday. His supporters and aides at the hospital do not even have access to him.

"The media aide who issued a rebuttal did it only after making phone calls; he himself has no firsthand information."

Global TimesNG recalls that Ajimobi, the newly appointed acting chairman of the All Progressives Congress, has been receiving treatment for suspected COVID-19 ailment in a Lagos hospital for close to two weeks.
