The airport project is coming along nicely. The terminal building is massive and looks impressive and well constructed from the little shown of the work done thus far!

Hope the Governor wouldn't cover everywhere with the usual multi-colour riot scheme that he has a penchant for! It looks ok in the mall i guess, but would look a bit over the top when done in a airport terminal. It's ok to have a section of the terminal covered in multi-colours, like say a lounge or departure hall for instance......but not the entire building.

I may not like his politics, but Umahi has no equal when it comes to delivering massive and well-constructed projects on a shoestring budget! Very impressed!

Update on construction works for the new Ebonyi airport.

Really impressed with the level and standard of works completed so far. One of the officials interviewed mentioned they hope the first plane would land at the airport by october this year. Really don't know where Governor Umahi is finding the money to do all these mega projects in the state. The man would go down in history as the architect and father of modern Ebonyi.

At this point, i've given up begging for the colour riot used on all these public buildings and flyovers to toned down a bit! Seems Umahi isn't listening so what's the point!?

This airport would serve the state as a socio-economic catalyst......its benefits and effect on the states economy would start to be felt in the next three to four years. I hope they engage experienced international consultants with a good track record in airport construction so the highest safety/operational/technical standards are met for the airports smooth takeoff in october. Also, priority should be given to properly landscaping the airports surroundings and approach road.

One thing i've noticed with the Umahi admin' is their preference for....and ample use of local contractors and suppliers for their construction jobs. Instead of using the likes of Julius Berger, Arab and other western/foreign civil engineering coys.....had Nigeria as a country done what Umahi is doing and patronised local talent for all its projects, by now Nigeria could have boasted of having world-class civil engineering firms that could even be exporting their expertise to other countries and saving us much needed FOREX as well as being a source for FOREX inflow into the economy. This is how the likes of China became good at what they're doing in civil engineering today.

Umahi is truly a magician! But, the October 2022 test landing should not be political talk!

Umahi should do everything to make the test landing in October happen. This airport will crown his achievements in Ebonyi and ensure future generations shall remember him as the David that delivered his people.

A more comprehensive tour inside the terminal building and the control tower. With these clips, you get a better sense of just how massive and complex the structures are.

Spotlight on developments in Ebonyi state.

Apparently, the report was done few months back as the Mall was shown still being worked on even though it's presently finished....same thing with the airport that works have progressed much more than shown...ditto King David university. However, the report also shows new projects like the massive bridge or overpass (it's not a flyover, so people should stop calling it that) being constructed, the Ebonyi rice world cluster, and the new Ebonyi fertilizer and chemical coy. The rice mill and fertilizer coys ultimately would help create secured, long-term employment for Ebonyi indigenes and also help improve the states IGR. Many rural concrete roads were shown as well.

Ebonyi is a state that, with a properly restructured Nigerian polity or even being a country in its own right, can record impressive economic growth....especially if it had a governor like Umahi running things. I just wish he could go for a third term so he can consolidate on what's been done thus far, and even do more!

Camp David Estate. I think this should be the first purpose-built highbrow area in Abakaliki.

They need to pay attention to detail as that’s what makes such an estate stand out from the rest: landscaping; marked roads; sidewalks; at least one well maintained park; security; adequate sanitation and road sweeping; etc!

Latest updates on construction works at Ebonyi int'l airport. They seem to be moving at breakneck speed and i'm still left wondering where Umahi is getting the funds for all these impressive projects he's delivering!

I like how they use local contractors for these mega projects. However in doing this, health and safety shouldn't be compromised. I noticed the workers aren't properly kitted out in the approriate PPE. Even saw one with barefeet....this is unacceptable! I want to see the project realised, but not at the expense of any of those workers health.

The massive gate section of the terminal that will have the avio-bridges for embarking/disembarking from planes will be separated so local and international passengers don't mix. I reckon when the new Anambra airport wants to commence int'l flight operations, they may have to build a new terminal for this as the present one isn't configured or big enough to handle both local and int'l flights.

The control tower structure looks a bit different from the norm doesn't it?. But then it's Umahi we're talking about here, so we should expect to see that his unique touch show up at some point!

This airport will help catalyse the Ebonyi economy by ten-fold at least. This is why all these roads and flyovers he's building now are a good idea as he's repositioning the state for the expected economic boost it will witness in the coming years.

Nawa oo. This airport was just started last year or two ago and I read when they started work on it here on nairaland and it's almost complete.

I wonder why Aregbesola didn't work hard to deliver osun airport atleast by now it would have been put to good use and many investors looking for air connection can confidently invest.

Ebonyi people, una no go value Wetin una get until this man is out of office, I even learnt he doesn't owe pension and salary

I believe ALL Nigerian governors need to have a sit down with Umahi to see how they can benefit from his knowledge and maximise use of their own resources. Even those who feel they're comparatively well-off could still benefit and, through implementing cost-saving measures, have even more funds at their disposal for delivering the vision they have for their states.

Update on works at Abakaliki olympic stadium.

I'm impressed with how they're getting the measurements right......it's starting to look like a stadium. Just hope they maximise the use of all that space under the stands: there should be changing rooms, toilets and other necessary rooms one would expect to see in any world-class stadium.

The stadium is gonna have two levels of 15,000 capacity each....kinda like the one in Uyo, and the stands will be covered too. They said it would be ready and put to use by the 15th of december this year.

I was woried Umahi will continue on this project with his penchant for filling everywhere with multiple colours.....and he didn't disappoint! Besides the colour riot, everything else seems to be going smoothly according to plan....but not according to schedule, because i remember one state official saying in a previous video that the airport would be ready by october ending.

I am from Anambra State but would like to fly into Nigeria through this Ebonyi Airport !!! I am really proud of it. I wish the airport a huge success and pray that federal politics will not scuttle the success of the airport. Another factor that will enhance the airport is RAIL LINK connecting all SOUTH EASTERN STATES so that we can travel with ease to our various states when we land at Abakaliki. South East governors may not have to wait for the federal government but go ahead with the joint South East rail project and get reimbursement in future if it will happen.
Regarding the signature multicolours Umahi projects, it is part of a statement. In some tourist destinations, all houses are painted white. If the multicolours go out of fashion, they are easy to change by only replacing those colourful coverings with any desired colour. It is just a weeks job.
Meanwhile kudos to Ebonyi state

I am from enugu state but u will like to fly into enugu state through ebonyi airport. This is because enugu airport is useless, worthless and unsafe. For international travels I would want to fly into Nigeria through Anambra international airport which is the best and busiest airport in igboland.

All the SE governors should contribute funds and build speed rail lines linking all the SE states to the Anambra International airport so that all the SE states will have easy access to international travels through the airport.

Anambra international airport has given SE region the access to the world because it has the longest runway in Nigeria aside MMIA. Flights can land via ends of the runway and it has Internet landing systems.

Congratulations to Anambra for giving igboland this wonderful infrastructure

Dude, don’t bring your insecurity and quarrelsome nature to this thread!

What is wrong in anyone of Igbo heritage wanting to fly into Nigeria through the new Ebonyi airport or any other international airport in his region….even if it’s just to check things out and patronise the new airport in its first few months of operation?
