The Pen, as the saying goes, is mightier than the Sword.

But, how would anyone explain why the mighty have been falling in the midst of COVID-19 battle?

In the last seven days, seven Nigerian journalists have died from COVID-19 and other illnesses.

On the list are...https://www.newsmakerslive.org/strange-deaths-claim-7-nigerian-journalists-in-7-days/

The Pen, as the saying goes, is mightier than the Sword.
Wrong application of the expression.

Pen being mightier than the sword is a literary expression to connote the superiority of writing or journalism over political power. Writing being the pen and political power being the sword.

A case in point is between late Sani Abacha and journalists during Abacha's regime. Writers were being intimidated and harrassed because of their writing against his draconian rulership.

In this case, COVID 19 does not appropriately fit in as the sword, and the journalists are not dying because of their reportage of COVID 19 pandemic.

Most of them do not practice social distancing or even take any precautions while doing their field works.
