^ you use our site to get traffic to yours and you want to tell people what to do? simple , do not post your stories here then. soon you'll start threatening people with legal actions. smh |
Re: Tommy Hilfiger Tour Of Nigeria Ends In Tears by LA2(m): 2:04pm On Jan 28, 2011 |
you use our site to get traffic to yours and you want to tell people what to do? it is standard practice and quite acceptable to post links to other sites on a forum such as this, so long as the content on the link is of some benefit to the readers. In other words, it adds value. Copying content from another site however is actually theft. Did you know this or do you simply not care? |
Re: Tommy Hilfiger Tour Of Nigeria Ends In Tears by mukina2: 2:25pm On Jan 28, 2011 |
What's your point? Websites across the cyber space, at some point in time, post stories from other sites with the correct link to where they got it from.Stories from lots of other nigerian sites are posted here, i have never seen/read from anyone of them coming here to yell theft If someone posted a story from wazobia and posted a link, thereby acknowledging that they got the story from wazobia , its up to the readers to go check out wazobia or simply just ignore going there. If you do not want wazobia stories on NL, then it simple DO NOT POST THEM. You cant expect to post a story directing people to your site and when they go there copy the story and paste it here you start yelling theft. What are you doing posting stories on another person's site and looking for traffic? should i say traffic theft too? |

Thanks Jenifa. Dear mukina, Forgive me if I have offended you in any way. In truth I'd like to help this website drive some traffic, thus when I read a story that I like on the site, I share links to that story with other people I think might find it funny. I know a thing or two about content driven websites and how they generate traffic. I also know a thing or two about piracy. Did you know that simply stating the source of an article, or even pasting a link to it, does not make it right to simply copy and use it without permission? Yes we all do it, but that dosen't make it right. And its not just a matter of not liking it when people use your material, its about loosing traffic because search engines punish you for having duplicated content on your website. Website suffer when their content is duplicated. Apart from this, would you be happy if you paid people to write for you, not the news, but creative articles, then you find your copyrighted material all over the web. When people search for your story, they end up on another website that has not paid for the story. See, you are right, posting links to wazobiareport.com is an attempt to drive traffic for that site, but Nairaland also gains if the generates discussions. And just so you know, I'm not the only one posting links to the website, maybe I'm just the only one not copying their entire content and posting it here. Again, forgive me if I have offended you. It wasn't my intention to do so. And as of the site being mine; I wish. |
