Energy Theft has been a serious problem to the entire value chain of the power sector in Nigeria. Apparently the theft of electricity increases prices for customers and reduces safety. It leads to misallocation of costs among suppliers, which can distort and hamper the efficient functioning of market operators. Recently Ikeja Electric caught a resident who has been stealing energy over time through underground cables.

The person who perpetrated this illegal act is a resident of Daleko Fatokun Street in Abule Taylor. He engaged in this theft after requesting that his account be suspended in 2019. Since then, he has been illegally tapping energy from another source.
