Umahi, Ayade, 8 Others Emerge 10 Best Governors In Nigeria

Governor David Nweze Umahi of Ebonyi State, Professor Ben Ayade Of Cross River, and eight others have emerged among the ten best governors in the country, according to the National Coalition for Progressive Change (NCPC).

The National Chairman of the socio-political organisation, Sunday Michael, who disclosed this during its 10th year anniversary held in Calabar, said the aim of the organisation is to raise the awareness and participation of Nigerians in the socio-economic and political development of the country.


Micheal said the organisation is also committed reversing the rising cases of voter apathy in the country and advocated for more enlightenment on the part of electoral bodies.

According to him, Governor Ayade polled 73.7% votes garnered from its one million members across the country with the governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, polling 73.1% to emerge second.

Other governors, who made the list, include Seyi Makinde, Babajide Sanwo Olu, Dave Umahi, Kayode Fayemi, Ahmed El-Rufai, Banga Zulum, Nyesome WIke and Willie Obiano who polled 71%, 70%, 69.9%, 69%, 68.5%, 68.2%, 68% and 67.7% respectively.


Justifying the criteria used in arriving at its decision, the National Chairman said the organisation arrived at its conclusion through its one million members who voted through an e-voting platform which is verifiable.

‘The NCPC is a community of individuals who believe in the power of collective growth through our votes. We educate people on the power of their votes and how their votes can enhance the growth of the country by making better voting decisions instead of voting from a place of bias because at the end our errors affect all of us.

‘We launched an e-voting platform to allow all our one million members to determine the top ten governors in Nigeria and they were accessed based on five prioritised areas which include infrastructure, poverty alleviation, accessibility, agriculture and tourism,’ he stated.

He said this will be a yearly assessment and the organisation will subsequently commence the ranking of all the ministers in the Federal Executive Council as well as the performance of the President Muhammadu Buhari in the last twelve months.

He added that the organisation hopes to raise its membership to 5 million people and emphasised that their current poll is not a judgment on the governors but for them to see how people see them and also explore areas they can improve on their performance.

Keep fooling yours with Ugwuanyi a colossal failure in every dimensions. Even the disaster in Kogi is not times beta a governor than Ugwuanyi.

How do one inherit a properous Enugu n in 4 years turn it into a disaster, at least Yahaya inherited a failed state n continued in failure that is not what Ugwuanyi met with Enugu.

Only a fool will claim Umahi did beta than Obiano. In terms of everything governance n development none of the 2 can lace Ganduje's shoe n only Obiano can be said to put up feable challenge. That your Umahi is a colossal failure n you can only fool Igbos with him not other Nigerians with functional brains.

Honestly, speaking , I think the governor has built some monumental projects which I really don't think is important at this stage and people are confusing that with good governance. Ebony has more pressing need of human development and the state is not financially buoyant but you are spending billions building large markets and ICC. Why dont you spend all that money to build trade schools for artisans? Talking about misplaced priority.

In contrast, Umahi is more concerned with beautifying Abakeleke...he does have some solid projects but they are few and far in between.

I don't know why you guys always make it seem like everything is a competition. I'm neither from Ebonyi nor Anambra but Umahi is far ahead of Obiano.

You're talking about human development as if it was Obiano that did it. States like Anambra and Imo have always ranked high in human development and it isn't the work of any particular governor.

Oga u are confusing things...of u talk about poverty rate then anambra should be behind Ondo, Delta, Oyo, Ogun and even osun in terms of development according to the so called NBS but we know they're other indices used and anambra is obviously better than those states of u ask me, so using that as a criterion will amount to u shooting yourself on the leg...no governor can single handedly eradicate poverty.. Nigerians are generally poor..they only used 2$ for simplicity just based on ability to afford food
