The root causes of this (listed in order of importance by my opinion) which needs to be addressed are @PeeDaVinci, uncle that no 1 above is the in thing. it is always the last fight bcs as soon as you are there, u will have too much security and wealth will be flowing like a river. to be there, the name of the game is; KILL OR BE KILLED. i am sure the dead man is not as surprised as most of us here are over his own death because he knows the game more than most of us. if anyone here thinks that i am lying, let that one go and ask him or his killers. we shld be celebrating him as a hero bcs he died trying to be rich. pls is there anyone with a fresh news of this kind bcs we expect more of this good news from now till april. |

My condolence but he is no different from the civilians who were killed for the past two weeks. I agree with u, several people have been killed by gunmen on bikes in maiduguri, among them ordinary policemen, now a politician was killed by gunmen on bikes its making headlines on all national dailies, is the life of the politician better than those of the others? |

THIS IS JUST THE BEGINING !! THESE MEN GO INTO GOVT AND LOOT, BUY PROPERTY AND SEND THEIR CHILDREN ABROAD, FILL THEIR FORIEGN BANK ACCOUNTS WITH STOLEN MONEY , NOW HE WANTS TO BRING HIS BROTHER IN TO LOOT HIS OWN TURN . IF THEY USED THIS MONEY THEY STEAL TO CREATE EMPLOYMENT FOR YOUTHS AND PROVIDE THEM WITH EDUCATION, MAY BE THIS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED, THESE GUN MEN WOULD HAVE BEEN WORKING SOMEWHERE, OR EVEN BEEN IN SCHOOL, THEY WOULD HAVE HAD VALUE FOR HUMAN LIFE. IF THESE ALL THESE CRIMINAL POLITICIANS WOULD BRING OUT 100M IT WILL SEE 1000 YOUTHS THROUGH THE UNIVERSITY, IT WILL BUILD INDUSTRIES AND COMPANIES THAT WILL EMPLOY OVER 500 YOUTHS. THESE GUN MEN WOULD HAVE BEEN PART OF THEIR FIRM. BUT THEY WONT, THEY RATHER SEND THEIR FAMILIES ABROAD AND STAY BACK TO LOOT MORE NOW THE RICH POLITICIANS ARE REAPING THE HARVEST OF THE NEGLET OF THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES, FOR ALL YOU KNOW THESE GUYS MIGHT NOT BE PAID UP 100K EACH. THE 100S OF MILLIONS THESE GUYS SPEND DURING ELECTION CAN CHANGE THE LIFE OF THOUSANDS OF YOUTHS IN NIGERIA. THE QUESTION IS " WHY DO THEY WANT TO BE GOVERNOR? " IF THEY HAVE ALL THAT MONEY TO SPEND IN CAMPAIGN, WHY CANT THEY CREATE EMPLOYMENT WITH IT ? DO YOU HAVE TO BE THE GOVERNOR TO CREATE EMPLOYMENT , EMPOWER YOUTHS, GIVE SCHOLARSHIPS? THE YOUTHS HAVE LOST HOPE, AND A WHEN THEY LOOSE HOPE, THEY DON'T VALUE THEIR LIFE, AND IF THEY DON'T VALUE THEIR LIFE, THEY WONT VALUE THE LIFE OF ANOTHER MAN . |

favouredjb:Mr. Facts; so what are the facts I am appalled by the no. of comments by Igbos accusing the north of murdering Igbos, one even talked about 1966 May be Igbos should be reminded that they were at war with Nigeria and not just the North; in fact it was Awolowo's brilliant idea ("starve the Igbos of food) that brought an end to the war. Also the Igbos murdered Nigerian soldiers with impunity both Northerners and non-northerners; and The genesis of the war was as a result of insensitivities by some Igbo Military officers. So stop all these spread of hate; Igbos enjoy their lives better in the North than what the northerners face in the east; I ve' witnessed this first-hand, their women are continuously taunted and harassed (pulling their head covers is very common) in the east, they are abused and insulted at will. |

My condolence goes to the family of Modu Gubio. May God give them the fortitude to bear the loss. However, to me the killing is a calculated murder. Politics in Borno has been tensed for the past 6 months. The tension only abated when the SAS (Borno State Governor) decided not again to front his blood brother for the governorship. He instead imposed his cousin (now the late Gubio) against Dilba (the current deputy governor). Dilba is more favoured and popular than Gubio but he lost the ANPP governorship ticket to Gubio. His sin was that, he is from the Southern Borno, meaning HE IS NOT A KANURI. It is to be noted that btw 1999 and 2003, SAS was a senator representing Borno Central, 2003 to 2011 , a governor. Now the trouble is that, he wants to go back to the senate, his wife to go to House of Rep while his brother was initially positioned for the governorship. Now my conclusion is this (I cud be wrong, infact i desperately pray that i am wrong), Gubio is sacrificed by those that brought him to the fore of governorship race so that another person (my bet is someone closer to SAS, possibly his brother) could replace him so that the party could get sympathetic votes from people (if ever there will be election in Borno) Another theory would be that the man was killed by those whose oxen were gored by the Party's infamous gubernatorial primary. |

JaaizTech: first igbos supposedly enjoy better lives in the north than the northerners in the east simply because igbos are ambitious.an igbo perosn that starts with ordinary handerchief selling is not hoping to that the rest of his life and is willing to enter into more lucrative ventures as times move on but the northerner that shines shoe in the east has no qualms doing that for the rest of his life. as for taunting the northerners that wear hijab by pulling their covered hair what a way to steer controversy just to justify a non existent argurement. |

i have returned from my sabatical leave. ANPP of borno state know what is happening. this is an in house cleansing that's going on. SAS cannot claim ignorance. He and his family are too ambitous for their own good. |

Re: Breaking News : Governorship Candidate Shot Dead. by samparian(m): 1:09am On Jan 30, 2011 |
i dey fly under the radar these days for security reasons no blame me. things have been tense in Borno state for a long time. Nobody paid any attention to the killing of igbo businessmen, police men and military personnel. The igbo's in the state went on a sit at home strike for 3 days. Businesses were reonpened on Thursday morning. any soldier or policeman that walks alone in the streets of maiduguri is a moving target. this has been going on since last year but it was kept out of the papers. I'll say it again, Gov. Sherrif MUST know about the crises in his state. He wants to return to the senate, put his wife in House of Reps, His brother as governor and his father as chief contractor of the state |
