TMS Media reports that the government of Ondo State Government has sacked resident doctors, who recently protested the non-payment of their salaries. The resident doctors were attached to the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital.

The sack of the doctors was made known in an an internal memo. The doctors had gone on a protest to demand for payment of their accumulated salaries and medical allowances.

According to the memo, the doctors were given a notice till August 1, 2020 to leave the workforce. The document was signed by Adeeyo Babatunde, Director of Administration, on behalf of the Chief Medical Director of the hospital. The doctors were also advised to seek the continuation of their residency training in other institutions of their choices.

It reads, "The management of University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital is by this release giving a month notice to all resident doctors directly employed by this hospital that the residency training program would be suspended as from August 1, 2020.

"Residents can seek continuation of their program in other institution where training program is ongoing.

"This decision is to allow the hospital focus on service delivery in order to combat the COVID-19 outbreak without distraction of agitations from resident doctors.

"This will also allow for proper implementation of the program when it commences.

"Residents may be considered for readmission when the program recommences in the teaching hospital."

This angers me very much

In the right societies, the other doctors would protest with them
In the right societies, the medical association would be very angry right now
In the right societies, the citizens would protest with them
In a sane society, this would be a reason why this Governor would not win election

But watch out for people that would blame the residence doctors in this thread

The government or politicians are never the problem of this country, but the people and the corrupt society. Argue with your keyboard please

Akeredolu is losing it

PDP might just add this state to their ranks if RD votes sway to their camp.

This is a very wrong response. How can you owe me for months and dis-engage me in the end

APC is wicked

This Santa Claus look alike governor feels he can sack anyone as he wishes. Do the Resident Doctors look to you like your Deputy or his aides who u sacked yesterday? Look these guys will be bigger and better as long as they've got that MBBS certificate. Some will better their lives with mega pay after writing and passing their PLAB 1 & 2 exams or USMLE which will grant them practice license in the UK or USA respectively. In life there is a starting point and that's why u are having them work in your state teaching hospital for peanuts. Give them some few years and you'll be shocked how big life has decorated them. Just look at these rubbish politicians who can hardly present uncontroversial certificates sacking legit peeps

Akeredolu is loosing it.

He didn't take Education and Health sector seriously.

Helinues, I told you.
it will take the grace of God or rigging that will make Akeredolu get elected again.
