Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is safety gear that workers may be advised or required to wear, depending upon the nature of their work or workplace.

Regulations governing the use of PPE are generally implemented to address a specific hazard or risk. Typically, what PPE is required in a particular workplace depends upon a risk assessment, undertaken by the manager of the site.

PPE refers to ‘anything used or worn to minimise risk to workers’ health and safety’. This includes, but not limited to; safety boots, earplugs, face masks, safety gloves, goggles, hard hats, high-visibility clothing, respirators, safety harnesses, safety shoes and much more.
