Profprom: Lol. Mr price is a very nice outfit. By leaving, they are taking jobs out. But I do not blame them. Nigeria is a real capitalist nation. Our competitive energy is morethan 100%. Unlike in SA where outfits like mr price, Woolworth etc thrives on the opposite. Shoprite might still leave, naija is too competitive for them. An individual who is an importer can import the whole of mr price entire stocks, same quality and sell cheaper, because it is a one man business, he has plenty umu boys that he doesn’t pay salaries to. I don’t blame mr price. 1 Like |

adioolayi: what you don't know is that there is a serious FX crisis looming in Nigeria and CBN is covering up because they are afraid of making the government look bad. In banks now you can even get Form M to import needed raw materials for industries or even to import goods that cannot be produced in Nigeria. with the way things are going dollar will hit 600naira very soon 1 Like |

Jwonder: Investors need to get their money out. It’s a business. They invest in foreign currency and need foreign currency out in terms of dividend, royalties and share of profit. Imagine investing $100,000 in Nigeria 4 years ago and that same money is now worth $70,000, it’s a huge loss. 2 Likes |

Profprom: If you visit your brother and you find out his teenage children waltz into the house at whatever time they like, have their lovers sleep over and smoke weed with abandonment, would you consider the house in order or 8n shambles? What is the state of the Nigerian economy. The best indicator to that is the Apapa port, the gateway of the economy. Trucks wait days to get access to the port! They park on the bridges constraining traffic. Cost of haulage of goods from the port is now over 1m, if it's heading to the North. Port users are lamenting. What he said is standard. It's no big deal. The government needs to sit up. Unfortunately, PMB lamentable understanding of economics is ruinihg the economy. That is the root cause of the problem. Worse, he doesn't listen. 1 Like |

Mr Price also left Australia and Poland so obviously the company is having some financial issues. Anyways, in the States, so many businesses have shut down or are planning to shut down. A recession is actually looming no thanks to Covid-19. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Profprom:You dey answer the idiot? The branches in Poland and Australia closed down in 2019 because they were not making any money. Instead of giving that same excuse for Nigeria or give covid19 as an excuse (everybody knows that) the idiot says it is because Nigeria is volatile. Shey na Maiduguri, Sokoto or Kaduna Mr Price dey? Oh! They want to dey cash out anyhow ba? Why ShopRite, DSTV or MTN never commot? There are some narratives we need to totally reject and insult the sender. 1 Like |

AreaFada2:wetin concern infinix with Vodafone? Infinix is not a network provider, theirs is to retail phones, why not give the same excuse to Apple and Samsung? You wanna compare Vodafone, use valid examples like MTN and Glo. Let your logic make sense. And I guess Nigerias business environment is the reason Mr Price closed down in Poland and Australia? It is time to grow local business in Nigeria and do away with the companies that don't provide any real value. The business environment may be bleeped up especially because businesses have to produce their own power but that's about all. Our local businesses will still thrive under any weather. |

You can blame Buhari for many things, yes but Mr Price leaving Nigeria has nothing to do with Buhari. It is time to grow our own local textile industry not some shitty stupid SA company selling substandard clothes to us. |

Major thing making them close up is lack of patronage due to the relative high prices of their products, which is not parallel with their quality. Obviously same reason they closing down in other countries and they will also close down many more in the coming years. Every other published reasons na mere sakamaje (damage control). 1 Like |

jrusky: Imagine with this your attitude and support of Buhari, more companies starts leaving Nigeria, this country will turn to an animal pack. Issues like these should be looked from the senate. Companies leaving the country means the economy is going down, and the currency becomes more weak. Do you know why countries like Zimbabwe and others have low currency? We should not let Nigeria become a case study on failed nations. Lets be guarded with what we wish for. |
