I joined nairaland on the 3rd of April 2009 with prince4pro as my then username. don't really know what happened and I couldn't access my moniker again,after many failed attempt I opened another moniker with PRINCE4PRO2 in 2018.

This is my 4th account. I lost my second account after the legendary crash/hack of 2014 that made the app to remain stagnant with old data for days. When the app was eventually revived, data that were entered a few months before attack were completely wiped out, threads were lost and user names disappeared.

That was the darkest moment in the history of Nairaland. It was Nairaland's version of the civil war. I can still remember how boys and girls took to Facebook and Twitter to ask what had happened to Africa's largest online forum! People sought for answers, rumours were peddled but only a few knew what really transpired...

At least, it taught the developers the importance of backing up live server DB more frequently.

Funny thing is, most of the oldest members wree Nigerians in diaspora and other foreigners. 2005, 2006. Nairaland was like a community then.

Haha. Had my first account in Nairaland around late 2006 if I am not mistaken. Forgot the password around 2011 and created this one. Been consistent on nairaland for roughly 14 years.

I got on in 2006 from Cameroon and just like you couldn't sign in around 2011. Have this one running since 2011 though.

It was a good portal then as it is now. A lot has definitely changed though and after several crashes alot has been lost and learnt. I lost a beautiful thread in 2014.
There were some very naughty" never say good" individuals as we have today. I remember a thread on Mercy Johnson then an upcoming rising star. You needed to read what people thought of her. No disrespect to her person but she was often called "dirty skin" by some naughties of the old nairaland.
Omotola's husband had it hard too each time a post on the family made front page. Nollywood celebrities were always front page material.

I got to know bout nairaland from a uncle of mine who was a programmer in those days of Nokia series, i really love nairaland of those days..
I miss those days.

I discovered Nairaland in 2007 and was visiting constantly until I actually registered my account in 2011
