HON. IYKE UMEH PARLEYS SSA TO THE IMO GOVERNOR ON ICT...ASSURES HIM OF COOPERATION.

The commissioner for Technology Development, Hon.Iyke Sunday Umeh has reiterated that his ministry is committed to technological development of Imo state and as such will welcome any person or group that will add value to this objective.

Engr.Umeh who received the newly appointed SSA to the Governor on Information Technology, Chief Anthony Akuneme at his office assured him of his cooperation and collaboration towards achieving the set goals of Governor Uzodimma in technological advancement of the state.

It will be recalled that on assumption of office of the present administration, Governor Uzodimma made a bold statement that any government that wants to succeed must advance its technological base as the economy of the world at present is technologically driven.

Based on this assertion, Hon Umeh noted that the Ministry of Technology Development swung into action immediately after his inauguration. He stated that the ministry is currently producing automated hand washing machines that encourages local content as all materials used for the production were sourced locally. The ministry according to the commissioner is equally seeking for partnership from the private sector for commercial production of the hand washing machines, sanitizers, detergents etc.

While intimating the SSA on some of the programs of the ministry, Hon. Umeh said that the ministry recently went on inspection tour of the ICT centers in the 27 Local Government Areas of the state with a view of equipping and re modeling some of them into ICB centers.
The commissioner noted that arrangement has been completed for the Imo Technology and Information Expo 2020 which is being hindered currently by the Covid 19 pandemic.

Chief Umeh further re emphasized that developing Imo is the major focus of the ministry and hinted that arrangement is on top gear with a private firm for installation of a thousand towers in the state for free WiFi.

The Technology boss enjoined the SSA on Information Technology to bring to fore his vast wealth of experience that will make success more resounding.

Earlier, the newly appointed SSA to the Governor on Information Technology, Chief Anthony Akuneme, thanked the commissioner for welcoming him with an open hand and assured that he will bring to bear his expertise and knowledge to help the government achieve its lofty dreams in the sector.

Chief Akuneme spoke on the need for continuous synergy between the whole players in technology sector as working in parallel lines will not be beneficial to the system.
