The Sudan Story
Sudan is in revolution. This comes after hundreds of thousands of lives were lost over secession by South Sudan from Sudan. Yet, with the violent separation, both sides of Sudan still remain in the hands of the class of a few rich people. A militia leader, Salvir Kiir continues to tyrannically rule South Sudan.

The new country which was created upon secession from Sudan in 2011 remains grossly undeveloped and ravaged by various political and social crises. It is ranked Second Most Corrupt African Country just after few years of gaining Independence. The country is currently stuck in perennial instability and economic standstill while the gap between the rich and the poor continues to alarmingly widen

.
Lesson For Biafra
This may eventually be the fate of Biafra if we do secede from Nigeria. Secession does not guarantee a working nation. Also, Biafra upon secession may be landlocked which may cripple the influx of economic activities which we envisage.

The Solution
The Biafra agitations in Nigeria also showes that a unified demand for regional government by the oppressed is mightier and more in the interest of the masses across all ethnic groups Agitations for Biafra led by Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) have been so bloody with over 300 casualties and yet less successful. There is a better chance of Nigeria Uniting and demanding for the Regional style of Government practiced in the 1st Republic , giving the working-class people across all regions and of every ethnic group more freedom politically and economically than with secession which caused the civil war that was greatly bloody and unsuccessful.

People who support the Biafran Separatist movements have a lot to learn from Sudan. Our agitations now should be to put in place
Regional Government
so each region can develop at their own pace and not secession.

Please, No Tribal Slurs!!!

Peace!

You have valid points, infact regional Government will be of more benefit to Ndi Igbo because of huge market potentials but the problem is the sincerity of the North and West to yeild to regional Government not after they have tested the wealth from the South. So it is a game push harder for recession and when the heat burns overwhelmingly then a deal for regional Government might be struck

Thank you

I know it won't be easy but can and will be achieved through a collective and resolute demand by the entire South. The North won't be able to say no if the entire South can unite and champion for this agenda. Come to think of it, it is only the North that benefits from the division in The South!

Today the Igbos blame Azikiwe on his stance for a united Nigeria. Years back it was profitable to the Igbos because of the sheer size of Nigeria. The size of Nigeria transcends to a very big market. Zik knew fragmenting Nigeria will do the Igbo man no good. With a united Nigeria or even Africa, Igbo man would not be treated as a foreigner anywhere he may find himself. He is enterprising. He is not afraid of competition. He would not pay tax as a foreigner.
By then everything was in their favour until those gun throttling drunken military officers toppled the apple cart in 1966. At this point they need not to back out. It is time to look inward. Pick up their broken piece and build something out of it. Form alliance across the length and breadth of the country especially West and Middle Belt. This is not to say they cant find an inroad into NorthWest and NorthEast. Gain the confidence of the SouthSouth.
There is no pretense, the country looks up to the East for solution. The fear of many is that of secession.
Igbos have future in a united Nigeria than in parcellation of the country.

I think the bigger question is why did the British hand over power to the Arabs instead of allowing people rule themselves? Just like Nigeria?
Do u know the Queen of England claims to be a descendant of Mohammed?

Read people!!!
Ignorance is no longer cool

Wealthy Igbos are not ready to leave Nigeria because they know they will lose, only the downtrodden ones are agitating.

Just because they don’t want to be annexed into Biafra doesn’t mean they want to stay with “fulani” SS were the original secessionists when they declared Niger Delta Republic.

Go find some books to explain why the destiny of South Sudan was given to the Arabs. Or u think they fought for independence for the sake of it?
You created a thread on something u understand nothing about
