Disinfection is the killing or removal of harmful microorganisms from and environment or from a material. Sterilsation is the removal or killing of all microorganisms in an environment. Sterilsation is an absolute term while disinfection is not. Moist heat, dry heat, chemicals, UV light and others can be used for sterilisation.
