Edo First for Growth, a socio-political group has asked the Inspector General of Police and the Director General, State Security Services to commence investigation into comments made by the governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, threatening to "isolate" Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike during the period of the Edo State governorship election.

Convener of the group, Earl Osaro Onaiwu on Thursday said the threat by the Kano State governor has serious security implications which must not be treated with levity.

He said law enforcement agencies in the country must move to unravel the thought, inspiration and mode behind such outlandish pronouncement against a sitting governor who is supposed to be protected by immunity as guaranteed in the 1999 constitution (as amended).

The Group said the threat to "isolate" Governor Wike just because of his appointment as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Campaign Council for the Edo State governorship election may be interpreted as a direct threat to his life or freedom of movement or association.

It cautioned that if the matter is not quickly clarified, it may give room for opportunistic attacks and counter-attacks by loyalists and traducers of the two governors.

The group wondered that if a sitting governor can be so blatantly threatened with remorse, what would be the hope of common Edo people who have resolved to pitch their tent with the PDP and Governor Obaseki. It called on all leaders of thought in the nation to prevail on the security agencies to act in such a way to prevent such inflammatory remarks in the future.
