The professor, what has mechanical accuracy got to do with commenting on news in Nairaland Forum? People like you live uninteresting and vapid life. It's not a compulsion that one has to be educationally sound before making reasonable comments on some arising matters my dear professor. Many illiterate men have better brains than people like you who have ruined this country in spite of all your flaunting acquired knowledge.

#215,000 fine! Can he even make such amount in a year as profit after tax? And if you ask them to account for the revenue generated for just a month their bosses will start fainting. The only mistake the truck driver made was his inability to give 10k bribe at the scene of the arrest.

TRACE MUST BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS DEATH, THAT IS SECOND DEGREE MURDER.

I concur, now they are spewing so many lies to cover up their wickedness.

Government is supposed to be for goodness and not for wickedness, if not they should be removed.

I blame the government for this not the officials. They make every agency a revenue generator using them to force fines and fleece the poor people. Other punishment asides money could include community service and instalmental payments. Government just want to milk the masses to feed their greed by all means. If they use this fines to build hospitals, schools and infrastructures I wouldn't mind but they don't.

He's neither the driver nor the owner. What he came there to do TRACE did not know. However, it was discovered that he committed certain offence (which bill was outrageous) and was frustrated. So the man committed suicide. Almighty knows the true story even if humans claim innocence.

Activities of these law enforcement personnel have to be checked particularly during this tough period. How could someone be billed #215,000 when he didn't kill.

fines for traffic offences should be reasonable and affordable. exorbitant fines encourage corruption and it is one of sources of depression for many drivers and car owners. each traffic offence should not be more than 5% of minimum wage with or without community service.

This same trace extorted 100,000 from me last year because truck developed mechanical fault even though it wasn't obstructing traffic. 80,000 was given to them in cash, 20,000 was paid to the bank and then 1000 for driver tutoring. Have this ill-feeling towards them.

I sympathize with the deceased, its great injustice, considering the amount is too much compared to his Job.
Some Nigerian officials use their office to make money from the people struggling to make ends meet.

TRACE Officers are in the habit of raising traffic infractions levy unduly high, always above the official rate thereby making offenders have no option other than to bribe them.

This dude couldn't possibly afford this and hence resorted to committing suicide .

Government should probe the activities of TRACE. They should be made liable for this hapless man's death.

Hmmm...... they didn't know the man was a manager of a fleet of trucks. Really? The man was not wearing face mask.... so he was fined but the fine was not N215 000.... so what was it? ... and what is the fine for not wearing face mask? There should be an investigation... but we already know.......The man's truck was held until the ransom can be paid.

You said he was neither a truck owner nor a driver.
You also said he was the manager of a fleet of trucks of which you seized one and the truck asked him to come back with the truck or risk sack

You also said you don't know wat he came to do at your office.

You also said the fine of over 200k was a lie.

You are the one that needs to be fed with sniper oga TRACE cos you are obviously sick.

If this happened in an Arab country it can spark a violent revolution (similar incident sparked the Arab spring in Tunisia) but in Nigeria nothing will happen
