*2023;WHY IGBO PRESIDENCY MAY END UP IN A DREAM WORLD*
BY: OKETA MONDAY

In as much as the principles of fairness and equity favour South eastern geopolitical zone with five populous states and fifteen senatorial districts, added to the fact that the principles of federal characters commission on zoning and rotation of principal officials of the country, serve as enough greenlight for ndigbo to believe that the exalted seat of Nigeria president will inadvertently be produced from south eastern region come 2023, there are some intrigues to examine and put into considerations else, the anticipation for Igbo presidency come 2023 ends in a dream world.

To this effect, let us examine these factors with all sense of responsibility and neutrality; the position of a true Igbo man in the journey of 2023 presidential ticket.

1. *party zoning*: in Nigeria, the two political parties that stand as a determinant of victory are peoples Democratic party PDP and the all progressive Congress APC; however, it is very imperative to understand that these two political parties has their own peculiar constitutions and executive councils who decide where to zone to; recently, on the side of PDP, the former Governor of Benue state Sen Gabriel suswan categorically without reservations stated that PDP is considering zoning of it's presidential candidate to northern Nigeria;though, this statement received counter reactions from the forum of chairmen south east PDP, it might still hold as speculated by SEN suswan and Igbo's will be robbed off by the PDP they have stood with, supported and massively voted for over the years. On the other hand,it's on public domain that APC, the party that has branded Igbo's as 5% in making effective contributions to the victory of their party will never have genuine intentions for zoning her presidential candidate to south eastern region and other reasons soon to unfold.

2. *Deceit and pretence*: recently, a rumors were spread online that one of the south east Governors has gone to the the home throne of the power maker in the north, maumma Daura to seek for his consent and endorsement to emerge as the vice president of the country come 2023; the Governor was also alleged to have awarded a contract worth of about #450,000,000 to the lady who led him through to easily access the presence of the so called power Maker of the country, if this rumors are anything to go about or later comes out to be true, it means that Igbo presidency have been sold for personal vice presidential ambition.

3. *Lack of resolution*: the popular adage *Igbo enweghi Eze " meaning "there is no king while everybody is a king " seems to be manifesting as there has not been any consensus arrangement on the pedigree, portfolio, legacies or antecedents of those qualified to have our support for the journey; consider the case of the recently floored jagaban tinubu whom the entire southwest stood still for and rallied around in all ramifications to ensure he emerged the southwest presidential candidate come 2023; what happens if Igbo's equally have their own jagaban? In Igbo land, everyone has the same interest.

4. *Internal discrimination*: in Igbo land with just five States, there is a believe in some states that they are more superior than their other fellow Igbo States; of course, this superiority complex has the potential ability to jeopardize the victory of Igbo presidency come 2023. Recently, I engaged in a conversation with somebody from Anambra state and he categorically told me that Igbo's will support only presidential candidate from Anambra or Enugu or IMO and can never support any candidate from the poorest state like Ebonyi; though, I rebuked him by informing him that this statement is his own personal opinion and does not represent the opinion of ndi Igbo, it's equally important to pay more attention and address the misconceptions amongst the Igbo States to avoid the claims of superiority over others.

5. *Unsettled agitation*: it's no longer a thing to be wished away or waved out,the agitation for the creation of sovereign state of Biafra; it has reached the level where our responsible leaders should settle the agitators ahead of their presidential ambition. This group consists of not less than 45% of Igbo population mostly youths who can make a significant contributions towards achieving the interest of Igbo nation and advancing the ambition for Igbo presidency come 2023.

In conclusion, I borrow the scriptural sermon that says " it's more easier for a Carmel's head to pass through the eye of the needle............. " than for an Igbo man to emerge as the president and commander in chief of the armed forces federal Republic of Nigeria come 2023 unless these factors stated overleaf are constructively addressed.

These factors does not represent all the factors that may inhibit Igbo presidency come 2023 but represent the very few amongst many others to come in a next episodes in a subsequent time.
