IMAliyu: Confused people, but there's need for you to sight moon before celebrating Eid al-Fitr right? |
Re: Sultan Declares July 31 Eid-el-kabir Published. by IMAliyu(m): 8:25pm On Jul 23, 2020 |
IslamVIRGINS:The moon is used to indicate the beginning of a new month. Eid al-fitr is celebrated on the first day of the month of Shawwal after Ramadan. You're confused because your not willing to inform yourself about what is frustrating you. |

The Arabic calendar is a lunar calendar. It determines new months by the cycles of the moon. Unlike the Gregorian calendar which is based on the cycle of seasons to get a year. It's a lot more complicated. |

IslamVIRGINS:Sorry, but I've been disillusioned from religion for a while now. I'm just trying to correct you're misgivings on the Arabic calendar and Islam. There is plenty to criticize in Islam, but I don't like it when people make untrue stuff up or shallow insults. Such as the Islamic God "Allah" being the pre-Islamic Arabian moon deity. Which does not match his description given by the Quran, nor held by Muslims. Here's a quote from a previous discussion I had with someone else on the same subject. IMAliyu: Btw didn't watch the video, data things. |

IslamVIRGINS:Really don't care whose sky daddy it was. Can you point me to the Muslim religious text or belief where Allah is described as being the moon then? If I'm wrong for saying it's untrue. |

IslamVIRGINS: At times if they don't see the moon early enough the Satan of Sokoto will declare a day. By the way in the picture attached to the write-up it seems he has lost one of his horns. |

IMAliyu: So you expect quran or hadith to describe allah as moon god right? Try to watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTjNbT2-gmE "Narrated Abu Huraira: On the Day of Nahr (10th of Dhul-Hijja, in the year prior to the last Hajj of the Prophet ( ﷺ ) when Abu Bakr was the leader of the pilgrims in that Hajj) Abu Bakr sent me along with other announcers to Mina to make a public announcement: "No pagan is allowed to perform Hajj after this year and no naked person is allowed to perform the Tawaf around the Ka`ba . Then Allah's Messenger ( ﷺ ) sent `Ali to read out the Surat Bara'a (at-Tauba) to the people; so he made the announcement along with us on the day of Nahr in Mina: "No pagan is allowed to perform Hajj after this year and no naked person is allowed to perform the Tawaf around the Ka`ba." -Sahih al-Bukhari 369 ************************************************** Do you know who Abd-Muttalib was? What is the name of the idol Abd-Muttalib worshipped? The idol was hubal/allah/baal which is a moon god and whose logo was crescent moon and star the same logo Islam use today on the mosques and on the flags of Islamic nation |

IslamVIRGINS: Hubal - the arab god of divination, thought to be a lunar deity, the one Quraysh worshipped, The god's devotees fought against the followers of Muhammad during the Battle of Badr in 624 AD. After Muhammad conquered Mecca in 630, he destroyed the statue of Hubal from the Kaaba along with the idols of all the other pagan gods. Al-lat - Chief goddess of the Banu Thaqif tribe, goddess of war, peace, combat and prosperity. Similar to the greco-roman Athena. The etymology of the word feminine generic Arabic word for god Lat/ilat i.e. goddess as opposed to the masculine Lah/ilah Baal - The storm and rain god in the ancient Mesopotamian religions also known as Hadad or Iskur. Similar to Zeus and Jupiter. Was associated with the fertility god. The word itself is a title and honorific meaning "owner", "lord" in the Northwest Semitic languages. Was worshipped by the Sumerians, and Canaanites. I can't find evidence that the meccan arabs worshipped a deity by this name. Allah - The word is thought to be derived by contraction from al-ilāh, which means "the god", and is related to El and Elah, the Hebrew and Aramaic words for God. The word Allah has been used by Arabic people of different religions since pre-Islamic times. More specifically, it has been used as a term for God by Muslims and Arab Christians, including Northern Nigerian Christians. "Allah the word has been used by some pre-Islamic Arabs as a title for their creator god or a supreme deity in the pantheon if their gods." "Some inscriptions seem to indicate the use of 'Allah' as a name of a polytheist deity centuries earlier, but we know nothing precise about this use. No iconic representation of Allah is known to have existed. Allah is the only god in Mecca that did not have an idol. Muhammad father's name was ʿAbd-Allāh meaning "the slave of Allāh"." I still don't see how this translates to Muslims worship a moon god, or did you mind read them to determine such? They worship the deity described by the Quran. The Cresent moon and star was never part of early Islam as Islam was pretty much against symbolism. It was a Turkish, ottoman emblem and due to the influence of the ottoman caliphate over the Muslim world, it was adopted as a symbol to represent Islam. Let me ask you this do Christians worship the cross, do Jews worship the star of David? All the so called Abrahamic religions Judaism and Christianity it's offshoot. Have pagen, polytheist roots that go back as far as ancient Mesopotamia, Sumeria and Egypt, and were influenced by other faiths religions around them such as Zoroastrianism. I've already had this discussion. https://www.nairaland.com/5822742/fasting-month-ramadan-pagan-origin |
