PHRi is for HR professionals who have required qualifications and years of experience and desire to demonstrate mastery and validate their professional-level competency, knowledge and skills in an international setting. To be eligible for the PHRi, you must already have one of the following combinations of requirements:

- at least one year of experience in a professional-level HR position and a master’s degree or higher,
- two years or more experience in a professional-level HR position and a bachelor’s degree, or
- at least four years of experience in a professional-level HR position and a high school diploma.

Additionally, you will need to have an in-depth understanding of business Leadership, talent development and management, HR service delivery, HR-related measurement and analysis to successfully pass the certification exam.

PHRi exams are computer based which must be taken at the candidate’s chosen Prometric testing center. The exam contains multiple choice questions, and candidates have 3 hours and 15 minutes to answer a total 145 multiple-choice questions + 25 pretest questions, all in English (or in Spanish – Castilian). PHRi exam is available year-round, subject to availability at the Prometric testing center of candidate’s choice.

Once certified, your certification will be valid for only three years. You will have to retain the validity of your PHRi certification by earning 60 re-certification credits over the three years time span or retaking the exam.
