INSTRUCTIONAL AIDS USED IN TEACHING DRILL IN THE BOYS’ BRIGADE

Introduction
Drill in the Boys’ Brigade (Nigeria to be specific) popularly referred to as ‘parade’ is the movement of Boy(s)/officer(s) in a formation (group) or individually, uniformly side by side to a particular direction. The person in charge of teaching this training/parade is known as an INSTRUCTOR, whom is believed to be well trained in the drill.

Instruction Aids
Furthermore, there are instructional materials used in teaching drills in the Boys Brigade, even though only few Companies/Instructors have been using them.

These materials will help in teaching the Boy, who is the main focus for the establishment of drill. The teaching aids or materials used are;

1. Blackboard
2. Flannel graph board
3. Magnetic Board
4. Peg Board
5. Miscellaneous Aids (Milk bottles, shoe boxes, coloured board, flags e. t. c )
6. Transparencies (a little library to show pictures)
Film Materials (8mm and 16mm) TV, Projectors.
7. Drill books
8. Lesson notes/exercise books

The purpose of these instructional aids is to assist everyone in gaining greater knowledge and confidence in what is expected to concentrate on during the practical or teaching period.
