We see the familiar face of Tom Hanks ("Cast Away," "Big," "Forrest Gump". As you might expect, he returns himself to a dangerous situation. We find this man lost in the wilderness, reddened on a desolate island, fallen into the Hudson River, and struggling in many more extreme circumstances. Without hesitation (now accepted as a true word in the Merriam-Webster dictionary) in its context, we have always been the root for this A-lister offer. This Friday is no different. We are delighted for him as Captain Ernest Krause in the very first release film "Greyhound." His familiar presence was relieved inside, but sadly, the film started in a less familiar format of blockbuster films - VOD. Even Tom Hanks himself said that the transition from the theater release to direct streaming was "a complete disappointment." So, for now, we will decide if the "Greyhound" can succeed on the limited screen.

The "Greyhound" is clear but inspired by the real events of World War II. Naval Captain Ernest Krause commanded allied ships carrying troops and supplies across the Atlantic. Once the convoy was beyond the air support, they were attacked by German U-boats under the surface of the water. Individually, helpless ships launched rockets into chaos as they were attacked. The Greyhound and its crew must act cautiously, avoiding any mistakes, as they travel with fever from every circumstance of life-and-death as they seek to obtain the safe combination of their destination.

At best, “Greyhound” listened to the audience in the claustrophobic interior of a warship. The narrow spaces are filled with young crews, full of navigation instruments, and clams of important communication sounds. The quick movement in and out of combat is as wonderful as they can distract from anxiety. When the camera follows the characters in these intimate parts, it feels real and uninterrupted. These movie moments are beautiful. I have to think of these amazing images as a result of the experiences of director Aaron Schneider as a cinematographer.

Where the film fails in the small screen format is God’s view of the exteriors. A moment after seeing the beautiful twists and turns of our characters, the film escalates to the fullest, apparently CGI hitting boats and crashing into the waves of the sea. They look very different - especially when compared to the real scenes inside. Even with the use of these wide-ranging outdoor shots, the film leaves the audience indifferent. We do not understand where a ship is related to other ships. It eliminates any hope of suspension and replaces it with disappointment. There are a couple of exciting moments (especially in the third action) that really work, but most of the action is confusing and there are no bets.

Especially in film and filmmaking, the story is loud. Amid the horrors of war, the cost of life comes forward - not just the lives of the allies we meet for a moment but even the lives of the invisible enemy. After the sinking of a U-boat, a crew member congratulated the Captain, "Fifty smaller krauts." The Captain replied, "Five souls."

The Captain was a man of faith. We know that at the time he was introduced - kneeling and praying in his bed. In his mirror is written Scripture Hebrews 13: 8 "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." He clearly put his faith in God - the same God in Psalm 139 who was praised by King David, who said:

“For you are the one who made my depth; you have united me in my mother's bosom. I will praise you because I am afraid and wonder what is done; your works are wonderful, I know that well. My insides are not hidden from you when I make a secret place, when I am joined to the depths of the earth. Your eyes see my immovable body; all the days that have been prepared for me have been written in your book before it happened. I value your thoughts, God! "

His faith makes him proud of his employees. Everyone is important to the captain, regardless of their level. In return, his staff placed unwavering trust in his leadership. They never doubted his inner pressure. They keep his commandments. How different it is from today's culture where many people are working outside of selfish motives.

“Therefore, if there be any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any consolation, if any love, and mercy, Do nothing out of contentiousness or out of egotism, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Each one of you should be concerned about not just your own interests but also the interests of others. ”—Philippians 2: 1-4

The “gray” is often confusing and the result is often disappointing. However, there are many wonderful moments of action, moments of sorrow and joy. Even as a war movie, it's family-friendly - a little obscene or obscene language, a short time, bloody and zero sexual content. The good news is far greater than any negative content. Although I'm not saying it's a great movie, it's important to have a potato nest at home and watch it with your family. By the way, it's the first new movie to date - Canada.
