The Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, is a 1.36 km cable-stayed bridge in Lagos State. It links the Phase 1 area of Lekki, with Ikoyi district of Lagos. The bridge was commissioned on the 29th of May 2013 by the then Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola. The Governor, Raji Fashola awarded the contract for the construction of the Bridge to Messrs Julius Berger on March 13, 2009, while work started on the site on May 11, 2009. The Bridge was officially opened to the public on June 1, 2013 and its a toll bridge. The Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge was built at a cost of N29Billion. While I agree with you that the cost may have been over - inflated, but comparing the cost with that elsewhere may not really give the correct value. The steel roads and bars needs to be imported into Nigeria and cleared at a cost. If your comparison is in a country where the steel rods and bars are not subject to importation, then the cost of the same length of bridge would be cheaper. Omihanifa: 31 Likes 2 Shares |
