Meet the 3 Nigerian Footballers Who Have Won the Premier League Player of the Month Award


A lot talented Nigerian Footballers have played in the EPL. The likes of Kanu Nwankwo, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Efan Ekoku, Obafemi Martins, Mikel Obi, Joseph Yobo, Shola Ameobi and Victor Moses. However, only three have managed to win the Premier League Player of the monnth Award- an award which seems to honour a player, who has performed exceptionally well in the month under review.

Premier League greats like Didier Drogba and Yaya Toure never won the award, so it's not quite an easy achievement, as some of you may think.


1. Austin Jay-Jay Okocha

Okocha is arguably the most celebrated Nigerian footballer of all time. He won the Premier League Player of the Month Award while playing for English club Bolton.

2. Peter Osaze Odemwingie

Odemwingie is a former Nigerian footballer.Odemwinge won the Premier League Player of the Month Award, not once, not twice, but three times! He won the award in September 2010, April 2011 and yet again in February 2012.

3. Odion Ighalo

Nigerian striker Odion Jude Ighalo currently plays for EPL side Manchester United,having previously played for clubs like Shanghai Shenhua and Watford, where he won the Premier League Player of the Month Award in December 2015.
