A Chinese-made Covid-19 vaccine entered its final test phase in Brazil on Tuesday, July 21 as volunteers hope it will go a long way to stopping the pandemic.

The vaccine was developed by a private Chinese firm called Sinovac making it the world’s third vaccine to reach human clinical trial in Phase 3, reports How Africa. “We’re living in unique and historic times, and that’s why I wanted to be part of this trial,” the 27-year-old volunteer doctor said. Known as CoronaVac, over the span of three months nearly 9,000 health workers across six Brazilian states can get the vaccine in two doses over the space of three months.

On Monday, July 20, Sao Paulo hospital’s governor, Joao Doria, said the test results of thy vaccines are expected back within 90 days. In the event that the vaccine is successful against Covid-19, the right to mass-produce 120 million doses is given to the institution in charge.
