Tsunami Hits Obaseki As Edo Assembly Deputy Speaker, 4 Others Endorse Pastor Ize-Iyamu Governorship Bid

The Deputy Speaker of Edo state House of Assembly Mr. Yekini Idiaye and four other lawmakers have declared their support for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

The lawmakers are among the 10 that were inaugurated in July 2019 while 14 others remain yet to be inaugurated.

According to the lawmakers, their decision is to remain in the APC on whose platform they were elected.

They insist on not joining the state governor, Godwin Obaseki in his new party, the PDP.

The lawmakers also alleged that the state executive led by governor Obaseki has made the legislature irrelevant and unable to perform its functions as enshrined in the constitution.

Apart from Hon Idiaye, the other legislators are Hon Emmanuel Agbaje (APC Akoko-Edo II constituency), Hon Nosayaba Okunbor (Orhionmwon East constituency), Hon Dumez Ugiagbe (Ovia Northeast I constituency) and Hon Vincent Uwadiae (Ovia Northeast constituency II).

The action of the lawmakers bring to 17 the number of Edo APC members of the Edo state house of assembly who have chosen to remain in their party and refused to join Governor Obaseki to the PDP.

This contest is beyond Obaseki. Truly, he's a snail in a tiger's contest. He should just accept his fate and go away quietly. Someone that cannot even win among his handpicked appointees and loyalist has no business in politcs. He will receive a serious shellacking in September.

Obaseki never had a plan B (defecting to PDP), he thought Oshiomole would go down soon enough to provide an easier route for him. But in politics you need to have plan A, B and C.

I had explained this to them this morning. There is still a card he can play Sha. But he no Sabi politics.election is not won online. .I have said it. 3weeks to elections .shock go fall.
