Don't say what you know nothing about, Babalakin has his issue as well as the VC, how many projects has Babalakin brought to Unilag since he became Pro Chancellor? But he wants to control everyone when he has offered nothing in return. When he was in the north as a pro chancellor did he try such? He would have gone in for it

They know what he is capable of doing before entrusted him the management of governing council. It takes dogedness and firm responsibility to ensure accountability in an institution like Unilag.

His ealier challenge of the VC on misappropriation and gross misconduct led to animosity between him and VC. So, VC resort to sidelining the pro-vc since then, including the cancelled convocation. He used his power to clip his wing

The same government that took a decision in May this year not to sack any head of government without following due process. Double standard!

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, University of Lagos, UNILAG chapter, has warned Pro-Chancellor, Wale Babalakin to steer clear of the institution.

ASUU said the vote of no confidence slammed on him has not been vacated.

The body made the declaration in a statement by its Chairman, Dele Ashiru, on Saturday.

ASUU stressed that Babalakin remained persona non grata in UNILAG.

The comment followed what the lecturers called “a surreptitious council meeting” summoned by Babalakin.

ASUU informed the university community and the public that “the vote of no confidence on Babalakin and his persona non grata status on account of the unfortunate cancellation of the university’s convocation ceremonies occasioned by him has not been vacated by the congress”.

The union advised Babalakin to rethink “his intention of entering the university, as his presence may rupture the long-cherished peace and tranquility on our campus”.

ASUU told the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu and the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Universities Commission (NUC), Abubakar Rasheed, “to please rein in Dr Babalakin”.

The union, at a congress on March 11, gave a no confidence motion on Babalakin after the suspension of UNILAG 51st convocation ceremony.

The situation elicited condemnations from parents, students, staff and other stakeholders.

This is as a result of power rumble between the vc and the controversial/corrupt babalakin.
Babalakin wants to control everyone and have the final say on everything no thanks to his connection with friends in Government.
Unfortunately, all this crises is bringing down the reputation of the school and also slowing down the pace of development.

A man who suppose to be spending time in jail bacause of the bi-Courtney scandal in 2013 is chairing a governing council of a reputation institution of academic learning

Wale Babalakin’s wings needs to be cut into size as a matter of urgency because even if a new vice chancellor is appointed, he will still want to be controlling him

This is so sad

Re: Notice to the General Public on the Removal of the Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos by Oladejo Azeez, Esq

The attention of the University of Lagos (Unilag) management has been drawn to the ‘Notice to the General Public on the Removal of the Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos’; dated August 12, 2020 and signed by Oladejo Azeez, Esq, Registrar and Secretary to Council, stating that the current Vice Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe, FAS has been removed from office with immediate effect.

This is untrue and a figment of his imagination. Therefore, stakeholders of Unilag and the general public are advised to disregard this mischievous disinformation about the sitting Vice Chancellor of Unilag, contained in that notice. Professor Ogundipe still remains Unilag’s Vice Chancellor.

Thank you.
Signed
Professor Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe, FAS

It is not likely that the process of removing the VC is transparent. Why did they meet at Abuja not Unilag and why was the VC not in the meetiing. This is not fair at all. It is more of a personality clash not about the Uni itself

The VC should not be the one to sign the notice. It should have been signed by the Registrar. The seems to have played a fast one on the VC. It is going to be a difficult fight by the VC
