A 32-year-old man identified as Ahmad Aliyu has been rescued by men of the Kano state police command after he was locked up in a room by his father and stepmother for seven years in Farawa Babban Layi, Mariri Quarters in Kumbotso Local Government Area of the State.

The police came to Aliyu's rescue after a video showing his sad state went viral. Aliyu looked emaciated and dehydrated in the viral video. He has spent days without food and water and reportedly drank his own urine whenever he was tasty. A concerned neighbor alerted the police in Farawa and members of a non-governmental organization, Human Rights Network.

According to reports, Ahmad was “imprisoned” by his father and stepmother on the suspicion that he had started smoking and getting involved in drug consumption. The police arrested his father and stepmum and took away their victim.

This incident comes days after a 10-year-old Down syndrome patient was rescued after his father and stepmother chained him in an animal store for over two years in Kebbi.

What's it with Hausa's locking people up for months or years! undecided

We are still nursing that little boy's ordeal, now this?!

Hausa Bandits killing christians and Muslims alike, all the whole kaduna killings, fulani herdsmen killing farmers, and then boko Haram! What exactly do they want when their father buhari is ruling the country?

Lord lugard should be crying everyday in his grave!
