Dr Dre is Overated. . . Swizz Beat is A 'one way' Producer, kinda like K Solo, Scott Storch is . . . Ermmm A 'ringtone' Producer. Timbaland is A beast on Beats! Na only God knw where him and his Samples dey come from.

PS: U should add Kanye, Jim Jonsin, Justice League(abi wetin be em name?), Just Blaze and Boy1da to the List jor!

Agreed, Dre is all about "hip-hop" beats but the guy consistently delivers and will DEFINITELY murder Tim anyday

Dre over-rated?? Never!!!

Selecting one of the two is a challenge for the following reasons:

Dr Dre: If Gangsta Rap, G-funk, or West Coast Rap is concerned, he towers above all other producers in the game. Dre has a flawless sound (I can pick out each n every bit of his instrumentals e'rrtime I listen). He doesn't lace his instrumentals with too many accompaniments - just a simple but heavy beat with a few (repetitive) piano accompaniments and yet they're masterpieces. He's one of the few producers whose beats I enjoy even without the vocals. A few instrumentals I rate highly are "Xplosive", "The Watcher", "F*** You", "B**** Please", "What's The Difference" . . .

Timbaland: Also a master in the game but he doesn't focus on Hip-Hop only. His style extends to R'n'B, Electro, and Pop-Rap amongst others. Methinks he also towers above several other producers cos of his versatility. His sound is very distinct and judging by his works, I think he's gotta be a perfectionist - each bit n piece of his instrumentals fits uniquely into the overall sound. My fave beats from him include nearly everything he's done for Jay-Z, Bubba Sparxxx, every beat on his "Shock Value", etc . . . it's kinda hard to draft an exclusive list of this dude's phenomenal tracks.

Both are giants in their fields, but if push comes to shove though, I'll pick Timbz over Dre.

Other producers I highly rate - DJ Premier, Lord Finesse, Pete Rock, Scott Storch, Just Blaze, Kanye West, RZA, Q-tip (wonder where he is these days??) . . . Wyclef Jean (for his versatility) and, erm, P.Diddy (during the Notorious BIG days).

Depends on the genre of music am listening to.If i were to come back to this world as a beatmaker,it'll be Dr Dre.

I believe Timberland is better, for the fact that he is flexible and features real good, Dr Dre is BASICALLY Rap and Hip hop, while Timberland mixes all brand from pop, hip hop, rap and what have you.

when it comes to drumz oh timbo is betta(my love, promiscuous girl, rollout, move biitch)
                            classic hip hop dre is betta(whatz the difference,without me,bad intentions)
                            delivery dre is betta(still dre when everybody thought he was losing form)
                            small back ground soundz that make a beatz sweet-- dre( most of his beatz)
                            at thier prime still dre (still dre vs drop)
                            number of successful guyz produced  dre obviously (easy e,snoop,pac,eminem, 50cent,ice cube, and many more)
                            flexibility timberland (my love, way i are,put u on the game,promiscuous girl)
                            present sales, i think timberland sell more, just music oh no "beatz by dre" or other sheeeeeznit

kanye too is becomming too good for my understanding

Rap-wise i would probably give it to Dre but overall its got to be Timbaland! Other producers just cant cope with his versatility. Guys like DarkChild and Just Blaze where good too back in the day

Dre anytime anyday. What makes him better is,he sticks to a genre or two and is master in it. Timbz is more like the saying, "jack of all trade,master of none." Ur guess is as good as mine. And thumbs up to the dude that said Swizz beatz is one way. Na real k-solo!

There is no such thing as the best producer.

Timbo- anytime any day!!! The guy is just amazing. He is consistent with hits as well. Timbaland has this "thing" dat brings out the very best of whoever he is working with no matter the genre of music, whether Aaliyah, Justin Timberlake, Missy Elliot, Nelly Furtado, Tweet , Keri Hilson or One Republic. And his beats are just fantastic! Infact, he never needs to say anaything on the track, just dat his grunt and eye rolling chidish thing he does, and the track is a seller!!! Lol! I Love him.

Dre, he is a has-been and should just retire gracefully. Eminem is his only real success story sef.

Kanye West for me. He has produced more classics than those 3.

Kanye samples a lot and does not make original beats. Timbo is still active man. No Kanye hasnt even touched anyone, he just steals people's music. Ray Charles would be turning in his grave right now if he heard Golddigger.
