During his inauguration speech for his first term, President Muhammadu Buhari made it known that he was for everybody but for no one. The statement reverberated throughout Nigeria that it became a slogan for the administration's anti-corruption crusade.

President Buhari had been the flag bearer of the anti-corruption fight since he resumed office in 2015. His first term ended with a minor crack within his administration, as Kemi Adeosun was disposed of her Ministerial position for alleged certificate fraud which she struggled to douse.

While corruption charges against former Akwa Ibom Governor, God'swill Akpabio, was dropped for him to cross-carpet into the ruling party, APC, from the opposition party, PDP. The crack in the wall expanded a little bit in the first year of the second term when President Buhari inserted Akpabio into his cabinet - criticism trailed the decision, but the self-proclaimed corruption fighter was unshaken.
