I am making my observations not based on Bonfere Joe allegations but on what went on in the field of play. I was already very matured when the game was played in USA 94 world cup. At that time, I wasn't comfortable with the way the match was managed especially in the last few minutes. But the allegations by Bonfere Joe confirmed my curiosity. So, I downloaded the full match and watched it again just a few days ago. This is what I noticed.

1. The team formation was wrong and designed to make us loose. How do I mean? The USA 94 squad was star studded that virtually all the players can score even up to the defense. Besides, the team had good strikers and wingers who could strike very well also. Even J J Okocha was also dreaded. But for most part of the game, they just kept only Rashidi Yekini upfront and they were giving him long passes and he always had not less than three defenders on him. How could he score with such formation? Yekini who was the main striker doesn't know how to dribble past players. He scores easily when he is given a good assist.
2. Most of J J Okocha passes never get through even though he displayed his dribbling skills. But when he gets closer to the eighteen yard box of Italy, his passes hardly get through.
3. There was hardly any shot on target for the whole duration of the match for both sides. The goal keepers where not tested apart from just one or two shot. This is unusual for a competitive game.
4. Emmanuel Amunike who scored our only goal was substituted. In my own opinion, he was still playing well. Maybe, he wasn't following the match plan.
5. The last five minutes of the game saw us under pressure but Westerhof was very comfortable on his bench. The Italian couching crew couldn't sit down anymore
6. The defense that has been very tight all of the sudden become porous and Roberto Baggio didn't even have any defender close to him when he took the shot that gave the Italian the equalizer in the 89 th minute. The central defender was no where to be found when that shot was taken. And Italy scored the winning goal through a penalty in the extra time.

Before you oppose me, please download the full match and watch. The Nigeria team was far the better side. Bonfere Joe might be correct. There is no smoke without fire. He may have lost in the court but the truth is that something was just not right with the way that match was handled.

This is why I didn't want Nigeria to employ foreign coach anymore. Something close to that happened also in South Africa. The miss by Yakubu Aigbeni might be intentional. Even a novice will score that ball. I don't trust these white coaches. Even Rhor, the present coach is an average couch. He looks like a mediocre.
