Karleb: So where would the seller get the profit to replenish stock, upgrade equipment, and pay staff adequate salaries? Our network providers need to make adequate profits so that they can pay for fuel, equipment, staff salaries ,supplies, and crucially upgrades. All those profits that GSM companies made, they are the reason why we have some decent internet in the first place.....it paid for much of the infrastructure AND the subsequent upgrades. |

The price of data should varies across state in Nigeria, My reason is that some places have constant electricity in Nigeria, So the cost of operation is less |

I said it. I've always said this thing. And it doesn't last. It's not fast. These telecomm guys in NIgeria are billionares and it's the Minister of Information tha's helping them and collecting his share, even El Rufai quickly became a board member in MTN to rip the benefits. How can i be paying 10k for just 40GB? Which country? Even Indians pay less for very very top of the line high speed internet with unlimited for less price. |

Service providers in collaboration with NCC are ripping Nigerians off on data charges. We are paying so much on Internet that is almost free in the developed world . Telecommunication companies here in Nigeria now pay less attention to voice call because their attention is focused on data that gives them more cash due to exorbitant charges on the populace. Nigeria is being bleeded and nobody cares! |
Re: Nigeria Has ‘Most Expensive’ Internet Globally, Surfshark Press Study by manikspears: 8:26pm On Aug 26, 2020 |
martineverest: Are you sure? Naija data is not unlimited o, these countries you are speaking of use unlimited data with high speed. And the ranking could be based on the level of the economy to the data. For instance, a cup of coffee in UK is £2 ,most people in Nigeria can not afford the equivalent for a coffee in Nigeria but we can afford 400 naira. |

kikero:Don't sympatize with them, I stood on my two feet, at a consumers forum and ask Mr Afam Dozie of MTN, if any of their base stations in South Africa is operated by generators, no answer came up. These telcos knew what to do, fact are, One of the directors hijacked fuel supply, Another generators sets, Another Truck etc |
Re: Nigeria Has ‘Most Expensive’ Internet Globally, Surfshark Press Study by Karleb(m): 8:29pm On Aug 26, 2020 |
kikero: If they are not interested in doing business they should pack and go! The country's hardship spares no one, not even the rich so don't preach to me about that. Did you know there was a time N1000 could only get you 100mb? A time where N100 gets you 10mb, what happened between then and now? I would even argue that then things were not as difficult as this. The economy was better, light steadier, things easier but yet data was too expensive. Maybe you can afford to pay amount they charge it doesn't change the fact that compared to other countries, even poorer ones, Nigerians pay too much for data. And our telecommunication companies are ripping us off and the government, our only savior is just to clueless and abysmal to do anything about it. |

Godons1: The government should actually be blamed for this. You don't expect a company to run all their mast across the nation on diesel and yet still make data affordable. Also, the govt still collects huge sum of money from these companies frm time to time |
