I just keep loving Buhari more.

U would see a criminal from a rich back ground fighting a poor man, because of the fact that the criminal is rich both him, the police and the court will try to frustrate the poor man. They will make u to be coming to court everyday for years before u get justice so that u will get worn out and abandon the case.

Their should also be a low that Barr's out of court settlement for violent murder case. A criminal would murder somebody his parents will sell land settle the police and police will start forcing u to accept compensation and end the case.

I know a killer who has murdered people that's walking free cause of this and he even boasts about it that he will kill u and nothing will happen

Blessed4sure:
But, the question is: what happens if a case is inconclusive after the 12-15 months?

Will the accused be freed or simply fined?

If that's the case, it'll lead to deliberate delay of cases till the allowed period expires.
If they fail to conclude it within the time frame, the judge himself shud be fined

I support Bihari for once... 12month time is ok but should go side by side with the punishment of execution by hanging to death . And suspend judges giving court order

I concur. Some cases have lasted for up to 25yrs yet not yet concluded. These can be attributed as a result of indolent on the part of judges.

We have to introduce regulations which we make everyone be on his toes to improve productivity .

So the proposal is a bad idea again?

Even if Buhari single handedly alleviate you from poverty, you will ask him why he can't let you suffer in peace.

Well, your constant hate is what gives us reason to keep loving him

Epic comment. grin

Those guys would blame Buhari or Yorubas for rescuing them from poverty.

12 months should be enough.
so if a criminal invades arrest for 13 month he or she is free shey?

there are case that go beyond 15yrs just to solve a case
Re: Buhari Proposes 12-Month Time Limit For Criminal Cases by Mcreloaded(m): 7:32am On Aug 27, 2020
The judge in Nigeria courts use half of the time it takes to judge a case to write everything and anything being said by the respondent and petitioners and their lawyers.

In other African countries and abroad you don't see a judge recording everything being said in court.

It's only in Nigeria that cases lingers for years and even some completely stall without progress. The president have said the right thing and this we need to put in place for judiciary to be on top of their games. Most thorough investigations ends within 2 to 3 months of a case, lingering cases for years has already been compromised with corruption. No justice can be derived from such cases.
Good point..once a criminal is apprehended the case should be expedited and not allowed to linger.

See ranting! cheesy

Smart people understand that unconventional measures are needed to correct some people/institutions. And such measures are deployed in almost every society of the world. Go figure out.

Lastly, "national security supersedes the rule of law" is a truism anywhere in the world. Go and learn boy!

SHUT UP THERE!!!

Mr.President seems to have forgotten that his govt of impunity & lawlessness both as military and civilian dictator has set the judiciary backward that judges mostly have to first look @ the powers that be before dispensing justice or give conflicting judgement.

Can he recall the illegal invasion of revered supreme court judges houses in the night by the DSS in the name of fighting corruption? Many of them were acquitted.
What about the illegality involved in disposing the former CJN-Justice Onneghen & enthronement of Tanko even it's know that the latter was corrupt?

What about the senseless "national security supersedes the rule of law" statement? What about coercion of the judiciary to manipulate & win elections as the courts now decide winners of elections in Nigeria?

This is all because of the bastardization of our electoral and democratic processes hence administration of criminal justice is very slow.Abeg make we hear word.

"Many were acquitted" Not true. Some had tons of unreported FX in their homes, none was taken to court so they could not have been acquitted, some were summarily dismissed from their posts.

"National security supercedes rule of law" This is the case in most countries including the US states where Terrorist suspects are held without bail beyond the time limits imposed in cases of citizens.

"Hence administration of justice is very slow"
As a senior lawyer I can tell you that the slow pace of justice precedes this administration and it one of basis on which governors annually exercise the perogative of mercy to decongest holding cells and even prisons. This problem is as old as Nigerias history.

There is no factual basis for the points you have just made. It is clear you don't like this administration and that is your right as a citizen. It is however not your right to spin a loose web out of untrue or heavily approximated "truths"

Nigerias major problem is lack of accountability by successive governments including this one. Factual untruths create doors that allow such governments escape from legitimate cases of wrong doing.
